Coach Partners with Anna Sui: The designer has been tapped to reinterpret Coach’s Duffle Sac, a bag that debuted in 1972. Sui has designed two different versions which will be featured in her runway show on Wednesday. Said the designer, “The Anna Sui version adds a boho feeling with Whipstitching, big tassels and appliquéd Art Nouveau dragonflies.” The limited edition bags will be available this fall on Coach’s website and select boutiques; prices are not currently available. {WWD, Subscription Required}

Liv Tyler Returns to Music Video: Need something to wake you up this Monday morning? Tyler covered the INXS song “Need You Tonight” to promote Givenchy’s newest scent, Very Irrésistible Givenchy Electric Rose, and the accompanying video is pretty sexy. The track was produced by TV on the Radio’s David Andrew Sitek, and Tyler actually sounds kind of amazing. {Elle.com}

Let’s Say Farewell To The Fedora. For Now.

The fedora and its smaller-brimmed siblings, the pork pie and trilby, really must die. This trend has reached its saturation point.

The fedora first came into fashion in the 1880s as an accessory for women. Then it fell out of favor with the girls, and men co-opted it in the 1920s. The fedora had a long run of popularity, eventually fizzling out as a common menswear item in the early 1960s.

However, it has reared its jaunty head frequently in popular culture since then. The Blues Brothers. Indiana Jones. Annie Hall. Freddie Krueger? Yes, icons all. But no one really wore the hats in real life. They felt costumey.

Why Olivier Theyskens is Designing for Theory

Why Olivier Theyskens is Designing for Theory

If it’s hard for you to imagine Olivier Theyskens–he of the Victorian goth gown–designing for Theory, you’re not the only one.

Paris Fashion Week Top Ten

In a perfect world I’d just wrap up all of Paris, stick it in my suitcase, and bring it back to New York–the collections, Laduree, the cheese, the sunshine–but instead I’ve narrowed it down to ten things I can’t live without. (We’re operating in dream world, obviously.) 1. Lace tops & bell bottoms from Rochas. Read more →

Rochas On the Runway

Marco Zanini was reborn with a presentation at Rochas last season, after the ugliness that was the whole Halston affair. Now FWD is reporting that come September he will get his first proper runway show for the house. The show will pretty much kick off the week on September 30th which has to have Marco Read more →

Rochas’ New Nose

A new designer wasn’t enough for Rochas, they needed a new nose, too. They’ve plucked Jean-Michel Duriez from P&G’s Jean Patou, to work on the development of new fragrances under the Rochas label. Even though P&G shut down the fashion side of Rochas in 2006 after no one actually bought Theysken’s dresses, they held on Read more →

An Open Letter Re: One-Offs

Dear Everyone, We get it, fast fashion is where it’s at. No one’s enjoyed Go International more than us, we’re still eagerly awaiting Comme for H&M, and we’re counting the days until another GAP shirt collection. But, as often as we’ve reported on the ins and outs of designers at Chloe, Gianfranco Ferre, Valentino; we Read more →
