Madonna Maybe Copies Patricia Field, Kate Winslet Secretly Marries, and J. Crew’s $1,500 Bag

Did Madonna steal from Patricia Field? The “Vogue” hats being sold as merch on her MDNA tour look a little too familiar, according to Field’s camp. (Then again, Madonna did come up with the song. There’s also that magazine…) {Patricia Field Tumblr}

Club Monaco has released their first Spring 2013 ad campaign, styled by Aleksandra Woroniecka and shot by Venetia Scott on the streets of NYC, and the images are gorgeous! {Fashionista Inbox}

From Free PB&Js and Charge Ups to Red Cross Donations, Retailers Show Post-Sandy Compassion

Retail (and life in general) is starting (trying?) to get back to normal after Sandy. Barneys opened yesterday and today, Bergdorf Goodman, Bloomingdale’s, Saks and Macy’s opened their doors along with plenty of other stores in areas with power. And we’ve been happy to see that many of our favorite retailers are showing a compassionate side, while obviously also trying to generate much needed sales.

Post-Sandy Retail Report: Stores Take a Financial Hit, Barneys Reopens and Looting In the South Street Seaport

As Hurricane Sandy moves on and New Yorkers are left to clean up the city, the full extent of the damage is becoming increasingly clear. One particularly hard hit area, at least fiscally, was retail, both in the city and beyond as stores were forced to close their doors to brace for the storm. And now reports of looting are starting to surface.

ManRepeller Leandra Medine Does the Chicken Dance in Saks’ Windows to Celebrate Louboutin’s 20th

She’s walked runways and covered magazines, and now she’s become a fashion installation. Leandra Medine–whose “Man Repeller” blog really needs no introduction at this point–scored a gig promoting Christian Louboutin‘s 20th anniversary and subsequently ended up doing the chicken dance in the windows of Saks Fifth Avenue.

Taking a page from the Daphne Guinness book of department store “installations,” Medine’s version didn’t take itself quite as seriously as Daphne’s Barneys window display.

Fashionista’s FNO Guide #1: Where to Find the Celebrities
Fashion Is Fun

Fashionista’s FNO Guide #1: Where to Find the Celebrities

We can’t believe Fashion’s Night Out (and, thus, fashion week) is only a week away. As anyone who has ever been to a Fashion’s Night Out is probably aware, they pack enough events to fill an entire week into just a few hours, so pre-FNO planning is key. While Vogue‘s interactive map is quite handy, that is still a lot of stores to go through. So, we’re preparing a few of our own Fashion’s Night Out guides.

This one is for those of you who just want to see some famous people. We don’t blame you! Fashion’s Night Out offers rare opportunities to get up close and personal with real Hollywood stars. Maybe Tilda Swinton and Ne-Yo will become friends or Daniel Radcliffe will get wasted or Alexa Chung will debut a new haircut or Seth Meyers will screw up your drink or the Real Housewives of New York will be insane (that last one is the most likely)! Here’s our guide to where all your favorite celebs will be.

Happy Birthday Coco Chanel!

We raise our glass to Coco Chanel, who was born on this day 128 years ago in France. You can celebrate the designer’s birthday by picking up Chanel N°19 Poudré–a reimagining of Coco’s signature scent, named after her birthday and specially released today at Saks to commemorate the designer.

Tilda Swinton at Saks, Michael Kors in Bergdorf’s Windows and More: Here’s What You Can Expect at Fashion’s Night Out 2011

Fashion’s Night Out round three promises to be the biggest yet. Stores in over 250 cities across the US and overseas are scheduled to participate in the Vogue-helmed retail fest, and this year over 200 e-tailers will join in on the fun so those not living in or near a participating city can throw down plastic and score some deals too.

September 8 looms ever closer and Fashionsnightout.com has just unveiled a master list of events hosted by retailers across the country so you can start mapping out your shopping route now. (And we mean that literally–the site allows you to “add events” to your “night out” and plots them on a map.)

We scoured the listings for all the most important information: which celebrities have signed on and what they’ll be doing, the craziest gimmicks, and where all your favorite designers will be so you can stalk them show them some love.

Which US Retailers Still Carry John Galliano? And What’s to Become of Galliano Kids?

Which US Retailers Still Carry John Galliano? And What’s to Become of Galliano Kids?

Yesterday Page Six published an item reporting that Saks Fifth Avenue had pulled John Galliano‘s eponymous line from the floor of their flagship Manhattan store. The item went on to cite a quote Suzanne Johnson, the general manager of Saks flagship store, gave site dot429: “We have values like I hope everyone else has. What happened was not right, and we would not want to carry [Galliano's] merchandise in honor of our customers and my employees that work in the store. That decision is being carried out.” Of course, Saks clarified to the Post that they’ll still carry Dior. This isn’t suprising–Galliano is no longer affiliated with Dior and Dior is too big a brand for retailers to consider dropping.

But while the Page Six item implied that Saks was pulling Galliano, the retailer’s website is still selling products with his name.
