Another Rock Star/Model Couple Is Over: Turns out he will eventually leave this bed: model Anne Vyalitsyna and Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine have called it quits. “Adam and I have decided to separate in an amicable and supportive manner,” the Victoria’s Secret stunner says in a statement. Designer nail polish collaborations are nothing new, and despite Cathy Horyn declaring at the end of 2011 that they were boring, they don’t seem to be slowing down yet. And we’re totally fine with that. During our various visits backstage (and stalking our beauty friends on Twitter) this season, we learned about a few exciting new collabs.

Halloween is just around the corner, and while you can’t exactly wear a costume to the office, your fingertips can provide the perfect outlet for some spooky spirit. Sure, you could pick up one of the many holiday polishes out there, but what’s coolor: a trendy shade of orange, or a Goosebumps-esque slime design?
Though some forms of nail art might seem a little out of reach for those with not-so-steady hands, it’s a lot easier than you think and there are some simple Halloween designs you can do with shades you probably already have at home.
To try out nail art of your own, you’ll just need a few supplies.
Base Coat–My go-to is Sally Hansen’s Diamond Strength Instant Nail Hardener. A strengthening base coat is key.
Top Coat–Seche Vite is the best. Period. It’s super shiny, dries really fast, and never splinters.
Q-tips and Polish Remover–Everyone makes mistakes.
**Optional: Thin-Brush Polish–They’re great for French manicures or contrasting tips, making polka dots, stripes… everything. They’re just easier to use than regular size brushes. I recommend Hurricane, which you can find at most beauty supply stores, but Milani’s Precision Brush is good too and is available at CVS. I advise getting white and black. If you don’t have a thin brush or don’t want to buy one, don’t worry. It’s not necessary, just simpler. And if you want to do some detailing, you can always dip a pin or toothpick in your polish

Limited edition makeup and beauty collections for the winter holidays have a long and hallowed tradition in the beauty industry. Who hasn’t picked up a red lipstick or sparkly nail polish for a New Year’s party? But Halloween collections? This is a relatively new–and if you ask us, sorta weird–thing. Not that we’re complaining. (We love Halloween and may or may not have dressed up as Lady Gaga last year.)
We’re not talking makeup for a costume here, though. We’re talking about bath products and makeup that all have a Halloween theme. It was a jam-packed Alexander Wang day for me yesterday, starting with a visit backstage pre-show and ending with the designer’s frat house themed after-party. Along the way I picked up a few interesting nuggets of information, got to talk to Carine Roitfeld, and even played beer pong. Oh, and I saw his spring 2012 collection, too.
My first stop was backstage, which was a pretty relaxed and mellow affair, punctuated by a visit from a street-style-star-in-the-making, which caused every editor there to run out with cameras blazing. The subject? Wang’s 21-month-old niece, Aila, who was decked out in full-on Alex Wang–including bag with fur danglers, racer back tank, leather circle skirt–and Converse platform sneakers. I chatted with mom Aimee, Wang’s sister-in-law (who also works for the company) about her well-dressed offspring, who made a splash last year after being photographed in a black fur chubby and Chanel purse.
It’s Labor Day, and while there are no longer any fashion or beauty rules, we’re sick of pastels and neons on our nails. Nail polish brands, from designers to the drugstore, are offering tons of darker and duskier options for fall that feel fresh and right for the upcoming season.

Alexander Wang is Making Sally Hansen Polish! He’s working with the nail polish megabrand on a line of exclusive colors to debut at his Spring 2012 show. It’s his first foray into beauty and will probably be insanely popular; don’t expect them to sit on shelves for long (if at all). {Style.com}
