See by Chloé Fall 2012: An Online Fashion Show With a Secret New Designer

Besides offering a more affordable yet still chic alternative to Chloe’s main line, See by Chloé is currently on the forefront of a couple of trends this fashion month: online fashion shows and Paris’ increasing acceptance of designers’ second lines. (Suzy Menkes wrote in today’s International Herald Tribune, about a new “parallel fashion universe” being created with secondary lines offering more accessible French fashion.)

See by Chloé, which launched 10 years ago while Stella McCartney was still designing the main line, is now in the midst of a bit of a revamp, hence this online runway show–a deviation for the brand, who have previously never formally shown.

Holiday Gift Guide: Designer Gifts You Can Fit Into a Stocking (and Your Budget)

Wanna get someone a fabulous gift that’s designer without breaking the bank? You totally can. In fact, a lot of designer labels cater to people like us who want to be fancy but for whom the Miu Miu shoes and Alaïa dresses we really want are far out of reach.

These aren’t knock-offs or collaborations or makeup, but real designer items that we would actually be very happy to find under the tree or in a stocking. Now if someone could tell us where to put stockings when you don’t have a fireplace, that would be great.

Adventures In Copyright: The Bunny Bag Edition

Reader Angie tipped us off to his rather upsetting Adventures In Copyright.

It seems that See by Chloe has blatantly ripped off Mandy Coon’s “Ginny Bunny Bag.” Both bags are black leather, and in the shape of bunny. We wonder though, how the quality of the leather compares among the two bags. The only noticeable difference between the two is that the original bag has a gold chain while the See by Chloe bag has a wrist band.

Either way, it’s always disappointing to see big labels rip off smaller, independently-owned labels. Especially when the knocked-off piece looks exactly the same as the original. Then again, both bags kind of remind us of those coveted Giles dinosaurs bags.

Hand Over Your Wallet

I’ve been trolling the internet looking for wallets. For Britt. The girl literally stuffs her cash, credit cards, etc into her bag with reckless abandon and zero organization. It makes me nervous in a “feel like my mom way” every time I see her reach into her bag. Seriously, it’s giving me major agita. And Read more →

More Shoes to Market

Today’s news in WWD was all about the shoes: Not only do they report that Jeremy Scott’s designed a wacky sneaker mini-line for Adidas to arrive in stores by February (with a sneak peek during the Paris shows next week), but also that See by Chloe is officially branching into shoes, too. The sure-to-include-wedges line Read more →
