Seth Meyers Has Some Fashion Advice for the Presidential Candidates

Last night in New York, Michael Kors received the Golden Heart Award for Lifetime Achievement for his 20-year support and commitment to God’s Love We Deliver, the New York non-profit that provides nutritious meals and counseling to people suffering from severe illnesses–and the stars, including Gwyenth Paltrow and Brooklyn Decker, came out in droves to celebrate. Among them was SNL‘s Seth Meyers, who had some pretty great (hilarious) fashion advice for the presidential candidates. Click through to read what he had to say and get the scoop on last night’s soiree.

Seth Meyers Wore Marc Jacobs’ Lace Met Ball Dress Because Anna Wintour Told Him To

Seth Meyers Wore Marc Jacobs’ Lace Met Ball Dress Because Anna Wintour Told Him To

One of the highlights from Monday night’s CFDA Awards was when host Seth Meyers came on stage wearing the same outfit Womenswear Designer of the Year nominee Marc Jacobs wore to the Met Ball a few weeks ago: a black see-through lace polo dress by Comme des Garcons with white boxers.

Though Jacobs ended up losing to the Olsen twins, Meyers won the audience over with the outfit change, eliciting the biggest laugh of the night (way more than that Galliano joke) and even applause. And while the SNL comedian is indeed hilarious and no doubt deserves credit for most of the zingers he doled out at the awards, it turns out the ensemble wasn’t even his idea. It was Anna Wintour’s.

The 10 Most Hilarious Things We Overheard From the Crowds Outside the CFDA Awards

The CFDA awards is one of the most glamorous fashion events of the year–except when you’re outside with the masses of screaming fans and curious onlookers, which is where I was. Since my invitation surely got lost in the mail (and maybe because I’m one of those fans), I decided to stake out the event. Between getting wedged in the photographer’s pit and later put in a “cage” (a barrier set up against a wall to contain the fans without an exit), things got a little wild. Despite being contained, I heard plenty of interesting things in the two hours I stood out there.

Here are the ten funniest things I overheard outside the awards:

And the CFDA Award Winners Are…

And the CFDA Award Winners Are…

The fashion Oscars CFDA awards have wrapped: The Olsens took home the big prize for womenswear for the Row (they very adorably thanked each other); Seth Meyers wore Marc Jacobs’ Met ball outfit (and dared to make a Galliano joke); Garance Dore had folks tearing up when she accepted her award by telling the audience to “take your fun very seriously…[and] maybe one day you will start a revolution”; and John Waters proved the perfect person to pick up awards for both Comme des Garçons‘ Rei Kawakubo (“I wear Comme des Garcons to be fashionable in private…We know how great her clothes look but others just think we’re poor”) and Johnny Depp (“He has fashion balls…he was a pirate Pepe Le Pew way before I met him”). And the industry recognized its finest talents this year.

Without further ado, the 2012 CFDA award winners:

Fashionista’s FNO Guide #1: Where to Find the Celebrities
Fashion Is Fun

Fashionista’s FNO Guide #1: Where to Find the Celebrities

We can’t believe Fashion’s Night Out (and, thus, fashion week) is only a week away. As anyone who has ever been to a Fashion’s Night Out is probably aware, they pack enough events to fill an entire week into just a few hours, so pre-FNO planning is key. While Vogue‘s interactive map is quite handy, that is still a lot of stores to go through. So, we’re preparing a few of our own Fashion’s Night Out guides.

This one is for those of you who just want to see some famous people. We don’t blame you! Fashion’s Night Out offers rare opportunities to get up close and personal with real Hollywood stars. Maybe Tilda Swinton and Ne-Yo will become friends or Daniel Radcliffe will get wasted or Alexa Chung will debut a new haircut or Seth Meyers will screw up your drink or the Real Housewives of New York will be insane (that last one is the most likely)! Here’s our guide to where all your favorite celebs will be.

Somaly Mam’s Incredible Cause Brings Seth Meyers and a Bunch of Model UN-Loving Fashionistas to the Bowery Hotel

Last evening’s Somaly Mam Foundation event answered the prayers of a rare breed of geek: the Model UN-er cum fashionista. Yes I can confirm they exist as my glued-to-CSPAN self is one of them, and what better way to entice such an odd hybrid than with certified hot nerd host, Seth Myers.

When Lauren asked me to cover this event I essentially jumped out of my seat, “I’m a former Model UN nerd!” I exclaimed via email, “Ha, i did Model UN, too!” she replied. [Ed note: Leah did Model UN too. Is this a trend?] It was then I realized that there must be more geeks like us, and decided to pull some investigative maneuvers at last evening’s soiree to find them.
