Over the past year, there have been several reports, many of them conflicting, that a Sex and the City prequel film may be in the works. The most fun guessing game has of course been the cast. Earlier this year, Blake Lively was rumored to be playing Carrie, but subsequently denied those rumors.
That may be because she’s actually playing Samantha alongside a slightly younger cast, reports the Daily Mail. According to the British tab, the rumored cast is:
Jimmy Choo, which is celebrating its fifteenth anniversary this year, just announced that they are releasing Icons, a capsule collection of 15 shoe styles yanked from the company’s archives. Some will be re-released in their original glory, but some will be updated a bit.
The shoes include the Feather, which Carrie Bradshaw lost on the Staten Island Ferry in season three of Sex and the City (effectively making Jimmy Choo a household name) and the Macy (a classic neutral party sandal). They’ll be available only at Jimmy Choo shops, and will cost $850 to $3,785.
If you’re feeling guilty about spending that much money, don’t.
Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte–there’s just something about those four fashionable Manhattanites that whips every girl into a frenzy. Proof? When we arrived early at the Gansevoort Park Avenue yesterday evening for the Gilt City-hosted launch of Summer and the City: A Carrie Diaries Novel, the estrogen-heavy line already wrapped around the block–and guests were getting pushy.
Though no fewer than five security guards and hotel attendants flanked the entrance (we counted), we finally managed to make our way to the penthouse. Out by the mosaic-tiled pool, Gilt members were sipping Xanté-provided cocktails, nibbling on polka-dotted chocolate truffles, and angling to get a few moments with their favorite author.
There may some life in the Sex and the City franchise yet…sans Sarah Jessica Parker.
Rumor has it that the powers that be in Hollywood are in talks to produce Candace Bushnell’s The Carrie Diaries, which chronicles Carrie Bradshaw’s pre-”City” life. The new, young, Carrie? Grazia is reporting that Blake Lively is set to star in the prequel.
After the complete and utter (not to mention offensive) disaster that was Sex and the City 2, can the girls really be up for making a third?
Apparently so.
“I would love to do a third film,” Kristin Davis told the UK’s Metro. “We all want to do it, I guess it’s just figuring out whether we can move the characters forward any more.” It’s a good point. What would a third look like? Sex and the City 3: Hot Hot Flashes?
Sigh. Even though no plans have been revealed to make SATC a trilogy, it could happen. The empire is a massive money maker and folks who have been fans since Sex and the City was an awesome show on HBO have an attachment to Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda.
If one good thing could come of a Sex and the City trilogy it would be watching the genius that is Pat Field take it on. Her costumes for the series and movies are always dazzling and influential. Love them or hate them, Field put harem pants on the map that summer. What will she have women wearing next?
Sarah Jessica Parker, star of that whole Sex and the City phenomenon, opened up to the UK’s Sun about how she reconciled being a prude with starring in the series about women who were anything but. And about how’s she’s scared of drugs and somehow only recently saw cocaine for the first time despite having Read more →
