Whether he’s talking about how much money his blog makes, criticizing Tavi’s success, or wondering (aloud) why anyone would work in print, Scott Schuman is not exactly known for his discretion or tact. Recently, Schuman turned this famous, erm, candor, on one of the fashion industry’s most beloved characters: Bill Cunningham.
And so, we bid adieu to another amazing fashion month as Paris Fashion Week comes to an end. But before we fly away home, let’s take a look at some of the incredible and enviable street style that paraded through the City of Light throughout the week. After all, half the fun of fashion week is seeing the clothes outside the shows!

Street style’s a hot topic lately. So we thought after that Times profile blowing the lid off the subject and revealing how contrived and and monetizing the whole medium has become, we’d chat with pioneering street style photographer Scott Schuman (again) and get his perspective on something that he, in a way, helped create.
What makes a street style starlet? Is it her fearlessness in the face of fashion, her ability to pull off the latest runway trends? Or, is it the fact that she has a photographer trailing her around Lincoln Center, asking her to pose just-so in that sunny spot over there? This NYFW, we wanted to find out for ourselves–with the help of some electronic cat ears, a big furry hat, and a case of runway-approved pink-eye.
As someone who both wears outfits that street style photographers’ dreams are made of, and also possesses a brain, Medine offers an interesting perspective.
At some point “street style” referred to stylish people wearing their own clothes that they bought and put together in outfits themselves and then just went about their business. Now, there are stylists, PRs, agents, staged shoots, and more factors coming together to take the authenticity out of street style, especially during fashion week.
