Fashion News Roundup: Erin Wasson Models for Rockport Shoes, a New Balenciaga Exhibit Debuts, and Ralph Rucci Gets Lifetime Achievement Award

Erin Wasson to front Rockport Campaign: The model-turned-jewelry designer is going back in front of the camera as the face of Rockport’s Fall 2012 campaign. The shoe brand hopes that Wasson will help emphasize the “stylish” aspect of these shoes, which are worn mostly for comfort. {WWD subscription required}

Beard and Mustache Accessories Are a Thing?: It seems hipster girls are always trying to (ironically) look as unattractive as possible, thus making them more attractive to male hipsters. Refinery 29 found some chained accessories that attach to sunglasses, and hang down to create a “beard.” Weird. {Refinery 29}

Paris’ Galleria to Unveil Balenciaga Exhibit: To honor the 40th anniversary of the designer’s death, the Galleria in Paris will debut a Balenciaga tribute this Friday. The show, “Cristóbal Balenciaga, Collectionneur de Modes” (“Cristóbal Balenciaga, Collector of Fashion”) features a wealth of 18-20th century Spanish clothing, which was a great inspiration for the designer. {WWD subscription required}

Life With The Coveteur (and Into the Closets of J.W. Anderson, Erdem, and Susie Bubble)

LONDON–We’ve all come to know and love The Coveteur‘s intimate portraits of the fashion elite’s covetable wardrobes ever since the site opened its proverbial doors over a year ago. Despite being relatively new, the site’s dynamic founding duo Stephanie Mark and Erin Kleinberg have already curated online editorials from over 100 closets including style pioneers like Simon Doonan and Patricia Field, and have done a number of big-name collabs (with Elle, W and Who What Wear to name a few).

I was lucky enough to snag an invitation to tag along with Stephanie and Erin and their photographer Jake Rosenberg when The Coveteur took London by storm. I was dying to find out just how they create their impeccably styled stories and what it’s like to step into the personal closets of fashion heavyweights. As a fellow Canadian, I was delighted to discover that these super-stylish girls are the definition of a Canadian best friend (in fact they met when they were besties at summer camp): friendly, warm and approachable. I could immediately see why they’ve been granted access into these trendsetters’ most intimate spaces.

Araks’ Autumn 2011 Look Book Features Coco Young, Gia Coppola, Susie Bubble and More

For the second time, designer Araks Yeramyan asked a bunch of industry creatives to collaborate on her look book.

Each person selected an outfit from the line, styling and photographing it as they saw fit. Guest stars for Fall 2011 include model Coco Young, director Gia Coppola, designer Richard Chai and blogger Susie Bubble, amongst seven others. Despite the mishmash of personalities, the result is cohesive: the book conveys an off-the-cuff, dreamy feel.

Lanvin x H&M’s Runway Show Was Everything and More

Lanvin x H&M’s Runway Show Was Everything and More

It’s a rare day when fashion people actually look like they’re having fun–pure, unadulterated fun–at a runway show. But tonight at the Pierre Hotel, Alber Elbaz debuted his Lanvin x H&M collection. So things were different.

The Scene: A tiny ballroom at the Pierre Hotel on the Upper East Side, and a runway decorated with mounds of hydrangeas. (Inspired by Yves Saint Laurent, who liked to decorate his runways similarly.)

The Players: Friends Sofia Coppola and Anna Sui (who wore a mix of Lanvin and her own designs), Andie Macdowell (the only person who makes me wish my hair was curly again), Alex Wang, Sally Singer, Grace Coddington, Emma Roberts, Elettra Wiedemann, and a gaggle of bloggers, including Fashionista favorites Susie Bubble, Phil Oh, and Bryan Boy.

The Runway:Yes, the one-of-a-kind versions of the H&M collection were stunning. But really, it was all about the atmosphere. And Anna Dello Russo. The models pranced down the runway much like they used to before the ’90s, “making love with the camera,” if you will. But of course ADR stole the show, stomping down the catwalk with a grey poodle. We love Anna, but a poodle makes her irresistible.

Boutiques.com is Up and Running, Featuring Stores Created By Susie Bubble, Olivia Palermo…No SJP Yet

Boutiques.com, Google’s new fashion venture, launched in beta today.

And it’s pretty much what was expected: A listing of several boutiques with pieces pulled from Like.com‘s vast retail network, which includes Topshop, Anthropologie, and Neiman Marcus.

Some boutiques were created by the blogger/designer/celebrity they represent. For instance, Nicole Richie, Susie Bubble, and Olivia Palermo have each designed their own boutiques. As have brands like DvF and Rag & Bone. Conversely, Carey Mulligan and the Olsen Twins seem to have nothing to do with the creation of their respective boutiques. And Sarah Jessica Parker, who was rumored to be building a boutique for the launch, is nowhere to be found.
