Well, that didn’t take long. A day after news that Tamara Mellon was leaving Jimmy Choo broke, there’s speculation that Mellon will launch her own lifestyle brand. And funding may already be in place for such a venture, WWD is reporting.

While Mellon’s ambitions aren’t portrayed in a very flattering light–WWD‘s source told the paper that “money and a high profile are important to her”–it’s understandable that she would want to branch out on her own.

Big changes are afoot at Jimmy Choo. The company is celebrating a milestone 15th anniversary this year–but in a surprising turn of events, Choo co-founder and chief creative officer Tamara Mellon–who was also the face of the brand–is leaving the company.

Mellon isn’t the only one leaving, either. Joshua Shulman, the CEO, has also resigned, WWD is reporting. This all comes in the wake of the footwear company’s acquisition by Labelux last May.

Kristen Cavallari Shot A Wedding Spread And Then Ended Her Engagement: The Hills star shot this Life&Style wedding spread and then broke off her engagement with Jay Cutler two days after the photos were released (presumably not because of said photoshoot). The pictures are gorgeous but that’s probably no consolation; bet she’s having a really not fun Sex and the City movie moment right about now. {MTV Style}

Jimmy Choo, which is celebrating its fifteenth anniversary this year, just announced that they are releasing Icons, a capsule collection of 15 shoe styles yanked from the company’s archives. Some will be re-released in their original glory, but some will be updated a bit.

The shoes include the Feather, which Carrie Bradshaw lost on the Staten Island Ferry in season three of Sex and the City (effectively making Jimmy Choo a household name) and the Macy (a classic neutral party sandal). They’ll be available only at Jimmy Choo shops, and will cost $850 to $3,785.

If you’re feeling guilty about spending that much money, don’t.

On the selling block for the past year or so, Jimmy Choo has been bought from London-based private equity firm TowerBrook Capital by Labelux, a burgeoning luxury group which owns brands like Bally, Derek Lam and Solange Azagury-Partridge. Labelux reportedly paid between ₤500-550 million–around $850 million–for the high-end shoe label.

According to a statement released by the Vienna-based firm, Jimmy Choo founder and chief creative officer Tamara Mellon and CEO Josh Schulman will stay on board, and Mellon will take a stake in the new company being formed by Labelux.

Jimmy Choo wants to buy back Jimmy Choo.

In case you haven’t heard, Jimmy Choo, the shoe designer, doesn’t actually own or design for his namesake label. In fact, he hasn’t been involved since 2000. UK private equity firm, TowerBrook, owns the majority of the company. (The other big shareholder is co-founder/chief creative officer Tamara Mellon, who owns 15% of the business.) TowerBrook is keen on selling. LVMH, Valentino, and a few private equity firms have been whispered as potential buyers.

But now Mr. Choo, the original designer and inspiration behind the brand, wants his label back. According to The Daily Mail, Choo has hired adviser Daniel Stewart to help him move forward with a £500 million offer for the company. (Choo will need investors to back his bid. Stewart will help him find the right ones.)

Does he have a chance?

After 15 years in the shoe biz, Jimmy Choo is launching its first fragrance, exclusively at Saks Fifth Avenue on Jan. 15. And co-founder Tamara Mellon is the chest, er, face of the scent.

The scent will simply be called Jimmy Choo. “We’ve transitioned into a lifestyle luxury brand, and it seemed like the next natural step for us,” Tamara Mellon, co-founder and chief creative officer of Jimmy Choo, told WWD at a London event to launch the fragrance. “Fragrance is such an important accessory for women — I think it will have a very broad reach. Our customer is every woman.”

The juice, three years in the making, was created by Olivier Polge of International Flavors & Fragrances, and it’s a fruity chypre with green top notes, as well as exotic tiger orchid, sweet toffee and Indonesian patchouli notes.

“Fragrance is something that’s very… personal,” said Mellon, to a room full of beauty editors at the New York launch event, where she revealed that her favorites as a teenager included Opium and Anaïs Anaïs. “I love the smell of green fresh notes, they’re in the top notes of our fragrance. I like things that are sensual, so that’s how we came in with the patchouli.”
