The rock ’n’ roll themed party Todd Lynn throws every September and February is never dull. Set to the tunes of somber, almost haunting rock, Lynn’s fall 2012 collection was just as structured, precise and brilliant as it usually is. The expert tailoring, as we have come to know and love as the hallmark of Lynn’s talent, highlighted the contrasting textures and feeling of the collection.

Twenty-eight pieces of structured viscose silk mixed with fur stoles, jacquard wool silk, finely cut leather and wool felt paved the way for this sort of “corrupted elegance” he believes defines his ideal muse. The result was a juxtaposition of classical elements repurposed in a disarming manner, appearing as grungy leather vests mixed with superbly fitted silk pencil skirts, and shoulder-height leather gloves shown with chic structured dresses. In the midst of brooding autumnal colors (pumpkin oranges, burgundy reds, chocolate browns, dusty grays and slate blues), some liberally draped teal pieces packed quite a punch and injected that dose of elegance and shock Lynn intended from the start.
