Photographer/publicity stuntman Tyler Shields set off an internet shit storm yesterday when he posted photos of his girlfriend and Clint Eastwood progeny, Francesca Eastwood ripping into a $100,000 Birkin bag with a chainsaw, eventually lighting it on fire. Understandably many people found this photoshoot to be rather insensitive–or downright offensive–at a time when many families are struggling financially.
In fact, according to TMZ, some people were so upset that they even sent death threats to Francesca and Tyler–Not that that’s a first for the photographer.
Birkin bags cost a lot. When they’re made of alligator they cost even more. Like $100,000. Which is why lots of people are pissed that Clint Eastwood’s daughter Francesca, who stars on the new E! show “Mrs. Eastwood and Company,” was photographed taking a chainsaw to a $100,000 red alligator Birkin bag for funsies.
Earlier this week Mischa Barton made headlines for the first time in a loooong while, when she posed with a big old pile of raw meat in a shoot for photographer Tyler Shields. Sounds like classy comeback material, right?
PETA certainly didn’t think so. The animal rights groups issued a statement on TooFab lambasting Shields and Barton for participating in the shoot. “This raw meat stuff is getting old,” they said. “And [it] not only hurts and kills cows, it may hurt Mischa, because so much meat is infected with salmonella, E. coli, and campylobacter that licking it is like licking a toilet.”
