A Dispatch From the America’s Next Top Model Premiere Party aka ‘The Night I Fell in Love with Tyra Banks’

My life consists of exactly two time periods: B.T. and A.T. (Before and After Tyra). B.T. was a pretty dark time for me. For twenty-five long, wasted years, I thought I didn’t love Tyra Banks. But things are different now: Enter A.T. Last night, I attended a preview screening of America’s Next Top Model‘s season Read more →

Let’s Play a Game: Can You Tell the America’s Next Top Model Shoot From the ‘Real’ Fashion Editorial?

Is it just us, or has anyone else noticed that a lot of legitimate editorials have been looking a little America’s Next Top Model-esque lately? Sure, those ANTM challenges have reined in some pretty big names in the biz over the past 18 seasons (Patrick Demarchelier, Russell James, Francesco Carrozzini, and of course the most Read more →

Fashion News Roundup: More Lady Gaga Fame Ads, Urban Outfitters May Have Bed Bugs and DvF is a Granny (Again!)

Lady Gaga revealed a second ad for her fragrance Fame on her Twitter account – thankfully she’s a bit more covered up in this one. {Twitter} We know that “devil may care” attitude is part of the Urban Outfitters brand, but we think a potential bed bug infestation might be worth more than a shrug Read more →

Happy Birthday, Bikini! In Honor of the Invention of the Two-Piece, Here Are the Most Iconic Bikinis in History

Forget America’s birthday (well, don’t really, but)… Today, we celebrate the birth of one of the most revered and feared items of clothing to ever exist: The bikini. Evolution of the Slash: A Retrospective of Models-Turned-Actresses

Evolution of the Slash: A Retrospective of Models-Turned-Actresses

Beauty and fame often go hand-in-hand, so it makes sense that models and actresses seem to be forever trading places.

The latest model to make the jump to acting is Erin Wasson, who we got a first look at in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter today. And she’s following in the footsteps of some of acting’s biggest names, like Mila Jovovich and Cameron Diaz, who got their start as models. But while the model-turned-actress is certainly not a new breed, there seem to have been even more slashes emerging recently: Gemma Ward, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Brooklyn Decker, for instance, have all made the jump. And the new Mad Max movie (Mad Max: Fury Road) is almost cast entirely with models: former model Charlize Theron and more current ones Abbey Lee and Rosie Huntington Whitely are all set to star.

And while the model/actress transition is certainly not rare–it can be hard to pull off (see: Cindy Crawford in Fair Game).

Click through for our round-up of the most memorable models-turned-actresses.

ANTM‘s Isis King on Starring in American Apparel’s Pride Campaign and Why the Fashion Industry Still Has ‘A Long Way To Go’ Toward Accepting Transgender Models

It’s not very often that an America’s Next Top Model contestant stays in the headlines after her cycle ends. But for Isis King, it seems like her time in the spotlight has just begun. King, who appeared in the eleventh season of Tyra Banks‘s model-search reality show, was the first openly transgender person to compete. And despite finishing in tenth place, she’s managed to be one of the few contestants who’s actually gone on to star in a high-profile campaign–in ads for American Apparel‘s new ‘Legalize Gay’ tee line, a collaboration with GLAAD, and the company’s first campaign to feature a transgender person.

We talked to Isis about how she got involved in the history-making campaign, where she thinks trans people stand in the fashion world today (she says there’s a ‘don’t ask don’t tell policy’), and being a role model for the transgender community.

Kelly Cutrone On Janice Dickinson: ‘She’s an Erratic, Unpredictable Bitch’

If there is one person in the industry no one wants to piss off, it’s Kelly Cutrone. [Ed. note: OK, really it's Anna Wintour, but she won't put your shit on blast like Cutrone.] The lifestyle guru, America’s Next Top Model judge, and PR maven is known for telling it exactly how it is, no matter who it is. The most recent victim of her acid tongue? Janice Dickinson.

Dickinson, who seems to enjoy running her mouth about anything in order to stir the pot, recently mouthed off about her former employer, Tyra Banks, calling her “soulless, heartless, and cold.”

We hung out with Cutrone recently (more on that later) and she told us she’s “gotten really close with Tyra.” So what did she think about the choice words Dickinson had for her Top Model boss?
