From V’s Asian Issue to the pages of Vogue UK, stylists and photographers are looking east for inspiration. I blame it on Marc Jacobs’ SS11 show for Louis Vuitton, but economists may blame it on the booming market in Asia. Whatever the reason, nothing is more en vogue than referencing the far east.
V‘s summer issue is packed with stellar editorials. From the top Asian models to a Lady Gaga cover by Inez and Vinoodh, V has it all, though our favorite editorial is “China Girl” styled by Fashionista columnist Sally Lyndley and shot by Sebastian Faena.

Elizabeth Olsen, sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, stars in V‘s upcoming “Discovery” issue, which features plenty of young Hollywood’s rising stars. Fashionista contributor John Ortved wrote the piece on Olsen, who was nominated by Chace Crawford to be the issue’s “New Ingenue.” John writes: “Unlike her famous child-actor sisters, this is her first real kick at the can. Instead of using their near-infinite connections, Olsen has taken the long road – studying acting, educating herself, working as an understudy.”
Not only does she resemble her oh-so-famous sisters physically, the 21-year-old actress looks like she might have a flair for fashion as well.
PARIS–Look at the cult around Vogue or Purple: Magazines today are institutions, with their own admirers and followers. No wonder they’re also becoming the life and soul of Parisian nightlife. Increasingly, brands are pairing up with hip publications to ensure a successful event.
