Step Away From the Feathers: 10 Coachella Trends That Need To Die

Coachella is the music festival to end all music festivals, so we always watch to see what fashion trends are going to be big on the circuit. While this weekend brought out the best in some (Dree Hemingway in Dolce and Gabbana!), Buzzfeed’s list of Coachella fashion disasters reminded us of the worst. Is anyone else so sick of feather headdresses and denim cutoffs?

So without further ado, here are 10 festival fashion trends we here at Fashionista hope get left in the dust!

Fashion News Roundup: Lea Michele Is the Newest Candie’s Girl, Someone Got an Andrej Pejic Tattoo, and a Fly Is Named After Beyonce

Lea Michele is the New Face of Candie’s: Rachel Berry is set to succeed Vanessa “Baby V” Hudgens as the latest Candie’s girl. We get that both girls have starred in televised series about high school students bursting into song, but can you really picture the divalicious Ms. Michele accessorizing her Marchesa gowns with a pair of Candie’s? Precisely. {E!}

Man Gets an Andrej Pejic Tattoo, the Permanent Kind: Someone will be walking around for the rest of his life with this tattoo of androgynous angel Andrej Pejic. The new definition of ‘timeless fashion’? {Refinery 29}

Hasbro Trying to Monopolize Clothing: The toy and board game manufacturer is teaming with tee company Junk Food and Jay-Z’s Rocawear for some brand rejuvenation in the form of fashion tees and sportswear. The collections will be available at Kitson and Macy’s, respectively, this spring. Unfortunately, Monopoly money will not be accepted as a payment form. {WWD}

Best Dressed: 2012 People’s Choice Awards

The People’s Choice Awards might be one of the more pointless award shows (seriously, does anyone actually watch it?) but that doesn’t mean the red carpet has to be.

Actually, we’re pretty sure the only reason to watch the show at all is to scope out what all the cute young starlets are wearing. And in that respect, last night’s show was a doozy.

From Chloe Moretz in Proenza Schouler to Jennifer Lawrence in Viktor & Rolf, last night’s red carpet was surprisingly high fashion. Click though to see who made our top 10 best dressed from the night.

From Pixie to Buzz Cuts: A Look at Celebs Who’ve Chopped Their Locks

The internet’s been abuzz this week with news of actors chopping off their hair for their art. Dakota Fanning, who’s shooting a movie about a girl with leukemia, was spotted with a crop but it turned out to be a wig. So was Vanessa Hudgens, but she actually did the deed for a role in the upcoming film Gimme Shelter in which she plays a homeless girl. She told Access Hollywood that she looks like a “soccer mom.” We have to say we sort of agree with her. (Run out and get a pot of Sebastian’s Craft Clay, Vanessa.)

But it’s an honored tradition for actresses to go short for a role, and the beautiful thing about hair is that it grows back. Sometimes a short crop can even make a career: look at Mia Farrow who let Vidal Sassoon chop her hair for Rosemary’s Baby. And Agyness Deyn didn’t get any attention in the modeling world until she went short.

To celebrate the tradition of celebs going short–whether for a role or because of a life change–click through to see a roundup of everything from totally bald to the cutest of pixies.

A MYHABIT-Forming Evening with Vanessa Hudgens, Plum Sykes, Jenny Lewis, and Brooklyn Decker

Despite the downpour, yesterday evening’s launch of Amazon.com’s new private sale website, MYHABIT.com, boasted an impressive roster of boldfaced names. Everyone from super stylist Mary Alice Stephenson to designers Rebecca Minkoff and Charlotte Ronson to Disney sweetheart Vanessa Hudgens turned up for the fête. All sported perfectly-coiffed hair (celebs–they’re not just like us!). The site, which offers major markdowns on designer duds, has smartly upped their fashion cred by teaming with the CFDA. Accordingly, both the organization’s Executive Director Steven Kolb and President Diane von Furstenberg were out to support the site.

Fashion News Roundup: Olivier Rousteing Is Gorgeous (and He’s Confirmed at Balmain), Jason Wu’s Making Faucets, and Vanessa Hudgens Wants To Be a Designer

Olivier Rousteing Confirmed as New Designer at Balmain (and Also He’s Hot): He’s been Decarnin’s right-hand man at Balmain since 2009, and spent five years at Roberto Cavalli before that. We can’t speak to his design talent yet, but he certainly is easy on the eyes. Paris just got a bit more picturesque. {WWD, subscription required}

Victoria’s Secret Destroys Returned Purchases: Apparently the retailer didn’t learn anything from H&M’s PR nightmare for this same issue. The lingerie chain was called out after a clerk started chopping up–in front of a customer–an unworn pair of Pink sweatpants that she had returned. {MSNBC}

Jason Wu Is Collaborating on a Line of Faucets: Jason Wu is collaborating with fancy bathroom fixture company Brizo to create high-end faucets. No word on if there will be soap dish accessories. {DailyNews}
