Watch Harmony Korine’s Disturbing New Fashion Film For Proenza Schouler, Plus Party Pix of Olivier Zahm, Lea Seydoux and More From the Premiere

PARIS–Last night at soon-to-be It-club Silencio (think Gold Bar plus Kenmare), Proenza Schouler‘s Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez along with POP magazine threw a party to celebrate the release of their new Harmony Korine-directed fashion film, Snowballs. The title is entirely misleading because not only is there nothing snowy or bally about this film, but snowballs also connote a sort of childhood cuteness (a snowball fight! fun!) and this film is not that. It’s disturbing and most of the posh fashion-y crowd (which included both Traina sisters and Lauren Santo Domingo) left the screening room feeling a bit unnerved and gripping their champagne flutes a little tighter. The creepy baby voices singing, the models dressed up like Native Americans with distorted faces and feet shod in trash bags, the not-so-sober rotund shirtless Southern preacher type character in a trailer, the part where the shirtless fat Southern guy and the two characters dressed up as Native Americans all dance together in a circle–it’s provocative to say the least.

Jack McCollough even acknowledged to WWD that the film is “not like a sales vehicle. It’s a sales deterrent if anything.” But that’s precisely why it’s awesome.

From Socialite to Ambassadress: How Chanel Ranks Alexa Chung, Diane Kruger, Anna Mouglais and More

Chanel front rows and party lines, especially over the past few years, always draw an elite group of Chanel-clad ladies who might collectively be referred to as “it girls.” Actresses, models, socialites and DJs make up this group but what they all seem to have in common is beauty, great style and some kind of cultural relevance that Karl or someone at Chanel recognizes as fitting with the Chanel brand. That and the ability to look amazing in Chanel and always catch our attention.

About two years ago, Chanel threw a dinner party and announced an “official list” of five Chanel ambassadors: Leigh Lezark, Jen Brill, Poppy Delevingne, Vanessa Traina, and Caroline Sieber. Others, like Elisa Sednaoui and, back in the day, Ines de la Fressange, have been casually referred to as Karl’s muses.

But, there are still others, like Rachel Bilson, Alexa Chung and newest and youngest member Elle Fanning (!), whose “roles” in the Chanel world were undefined, until now. A tip sheet for last night’s Chanel couture show, revealed by the Telegraph’s Belinda White, literally places bold names expected to attend into a carefully ranked multi-tier system. The categories range from “Japanese celebrities” to “Chanel Ambassadress.” Here they are in what I’m guessing is ascending order.

French Label Maje’s First US Outpost Location and Opening Date Revealed

French Label Maje’s First US Outpost Location and Opening Date Revealed

Vanessa Traina launched her seven-piece capsule collection for Maje, the super chic French contemporary brand, on the seventh floor Barneys last night amidst a very cool fashiony crowd that included Traina’s buddies Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Joseph Altuzarra, Alexander Wang and the Proenza Schouler boys.

Traina’s collection–which is comprised of a beautifully tailored tuxedo blazer and some insanely sexy black silk and lace underthings–is presumably meant to drum up buzz and interest in Maje’s long overdue launch in the US. Vanessa Traina is even tweeting for the first time under the handle @MajeUSA, the label’s first account in English. The label sells pieces at stores in the states but has yet to open a Maje boutique stateside.

Luckily–and I do mean luckily because Maje is full of perfectly French chic and sexy dresses and separates and I spent too much money there while I was in Paris–New Yorkers can shop Maje very soon (it’s about time Maje joined all the other French outposts setting up shop in New York). “We’re opening in the end of September on Bleecker street near the Marc store,” Maje founder and creative director Judith Milgrom told me last night. “I hope all American girls like Maje.”

Editorial Musical Chairs: Candy Pratts Price’s New Gig and More

We have a few significant moves to report on this week. Publicists arranging Fashion Week invites and seating charts, take note.

Candy Pratts Price, who was laid off last year from her position as Style.com’s executive fashion director, was just hired as Vogue.com’s new creative director. The two sites are owned by the same company. Basically, this is just a shuffle that took a really long time to happen.

Nancy MacDonell, another former Style.com editor, has just been hired at AHAlife as a contributing editor. Gilles Bensimon was also just hired by the new lifestyle shopping site as creative director.

Fashion News Roundup: American Apparel Still Screwed, Terry Richardson Hearts Snooki and Vaness Traina for Proenza

American Apparel auditor can’t take it anymore: American Apparel’s downward financial spiral doesn’t seem to be getting any better. Deloitte, American Apparel’s accounting firm, just resigned due to unreliable financial statements. The resignation sent AA’s stock plummeting 14%. {Going Concern}

Terry GTL’s:
The Jersey Shore cast was all over Terry Richardson’s blog yesterday. It looks like he followed the cast around Seaside for some shot-taking and fist-pumping. He even put together a video that includes Snookie spraying hairspray in her own face, repeatedly. {Terry Richardson’s Diary}

The Other September Issue: Rumors of a camera crew at W‘s offices got people wondering if W would be following in fellow Conde Naste mag Vogue‘s footsteps with another September issue documentary. W confirmed they are shooting a documentary about their September issue, the first under new EIC Stefano Tonchi, which will air only online as part of an “online film festival.” At least we won’t have to pay $12.50 to see it. {The Cut}

Good Romance: This TUSH editorial of Siri makes us want to run off into the woods and dress up like a fairy.
