Victoria Beckham Covers iD, Says Her Designs Stem From Her Own Insecurities
By Dhani Mau
Most style stars have blogs or Tumblrs dedicated to documenting their outfits and identifying the designers they wear. People like Kate Middleton and Olivia Palermo come to mind. It’s expected. But a six-month-old as the subject of such a blog? That’s a new one.
Thanks to a paparazzi target for a mother and the recent proliferation of designer children’s lines, Harper Beckham, who literally didn’t exist seven months ago, has already inspired someone to create a blog chronicling her style.

When she’s not dressing up six-month-old daughter Harper in Chloe and Stella, Victoria Beckham is shooting indie fashion mag covers. All in a day’s work, right? Considering this March cover of Numéro Tokyo must have been shot at least a month or two ago, just a few months after VB gave birth, she looks freaking amazing. The cover hed, “Super Lady,” seems pretty apt.

It’s no secret that Victoria and David Beckham’s six-month-old daughter Harper is one of the most well dressed ladies in Hollywood. She’s been photographed all around town with her mother in an array of super chic, ultra-feminine outfits. She has expensive taste, as her father can attest–today he admitted her wardrobe is ridiculous–and only wears top-notch labels like Chloé, Bonpoint and Stella McCartney.
It makes total sense that Victoria would shower her baby with expensive clothes, as fashion industry parents are wont to do. And while that may not be the most practical way to spend money, we certainly enjoy an occasional dose of Harper street style (who says you need to walk and pose like you have to pee to have street style?). So, we’ve put together a slideshow of her best looks to date. Prepare to be jealous of a six-month-old.

Best Dressed: Victoria Beckham in Her Own Line, Hailee Steinfeld in Carven, Kate Moss and More
By Alaina HernandezIt’s a super-sized best dressed list this week, and the glam quotient was high. Zoe Saldana was pretty in hot pink and floral Giambattista Valli, Victoria Beckham was the perfect walking advertisement for her own line, and Hailee Steinfeld is absolutely charming in Carven. Michelle Monaghan, Leighton Meester, and Kate Bosworth all radiated ladylike perfection in Valentino, Marios Schwab, and Peter Pilotto, respectively. Read more »
The British Fashion Council has just announced the nominees for the 2011 British Fashion Awards, which are essentially the U.K.’s answer to our prestigious CFDA’s. The ceremony, which is scheduled for November 28, is meant to recognize the most influential people in fashion today and also promote the growth of British fashion.
With all the attention the U.K. has been getting lately for that stylish princess of theirs and being dubbed the “new fashion capital,” British fashion is definitely more relevant than ever this year. That may be why the BFC has decided to re-introduce the Red Carpet award, which “gives recognition to a British designer who is creating global awareness of their designs in the media.”
From Kim Jones to Stella McCartney to Erdem, here are all the nominees:

In Honor of Lady Gaga’s VMA Drag Show, Here are the Best Gender-Bending Fashion Editorials, Covers and Campaigns
At the VMAs last night, Lady Gaga spent the entire evening as her “male counterpart” Jo Calderone (which she first broke out on the September 2010 Vogue Hommes Japan cover, left) vehemently refusing to break character. Perhaps she felt she’d exhausted all womenswear options? Ran out of Versace? Couldn’t get to the costume store because of Irene? (I’m done now).
Whatever the reason, it made us think of some other famous gender-bending moments in fashion. Take a peek at who passed the best as the opposite sex (hint: there’s one designer who really loves his drag).

Apparently, Recessions Make Rich People Want to Spend More: Here Are 10 Handbags That Cost Five-Figures
With recessions and economic uncertainty plaguing retail all over the world, you would think products like $39,000 handbags wouldn’t do so well, right? Wrong. Apparently, the luxury market has been doing so well it’s spawned a new market: hyper-luxury.
Instead of tightening their belts, wealthy shoppers are just raising their standards, according to WWD. People want to invest (if you can call it that) in extra special things, even if that special touch, whether it’s an exotic skin or customization, makes the item that much more expensive. And designers like Fendi, Tom Ford and Victoria Beckham are more than happy to cater to those people.
Alber Elbaz puts it nicely: “If a handbag is the price of a house,” he says, “the customer wants to make sure she’s the only one who’s got it.”
Are these things expensive enough for you, luxury customers?

Fashion News Roundup: Balenciaga Gets E-Commerce, Courtney Cox Writes For XOJane and Victoria Beckham’s Style Evolution
Victoria Beckham’s Style Evolution: In honor of her newborn baby girl, Harper Seven, Vogue UK traces Beckham’s sartorial choices from her not-so-posh Spice Girl days to her current, decidedly more tasteful style. {Vogue UK}
Balenciaga Launching E-Commerce: Notoriously un-Web-savvy, Nicholas Ghesquière is finally stepping up his site to sell all of the brand’s products, including runway ready-to-wear, and become “almost like a daily magazine” with tons of photos and short films by visual artists and photographers conscripted by the designer. Is a blog not far behind? {WWD}
Lady Gaga’s Second V Column: No purchase necessary to read the latest “From The Desk Of Lady Gaga.” This time she talks about… umm… costumes? Fantasy? It doesn’t really make a lot of sense or say anything an average drag queen wouldn’t, but if you’re still intrigued check it out online. {V}

The Beckham clan finally has a little more girl power. Many congrats to Victoria and David Beckham on their first baby girl, Harper Seven. She was born in L.A. on Sunday morning at 7:55 PST and weighed a healthy 7 lbs 10 oz. Victoria’s publicist tweeted the good news yesterday.
We’re sure you’re wondering about that name. The Beckhams don’t usually go for the most traditional names–their son Brooklyn was famously named after the place he was conceived, but we’re pretty sure that isn’t the case with little Harper (but who knows…). The Daily Mail writes, “A close friend of the couple said: ‘Harper is an old English name something Victoria has always liked. Seven is a very lucky happy number and the baby was born just after 7am, in the seventh month.’” The British paper even speculates the baby was named after Harper’s Bazaar magazine.
As for the “Seven” part, are the Beckhams just big Seinfeld fans?
