Brooklyn Designer Accuses Yoko Ono and Opening Ceremony of Copying Her Designs

Yoko Ono’s menswear collection for Opening Ceremony was… a lot of things. Wacky? Sure. Difficult to pull off? Definitely. But, unoriginal? That seemed unlikely.

However, Brooklyn-based designer Haleh Nematzadeh thought Ono’s designs looked a little too familiar. She’s gone so far as to file a lawsuit against Ono this past Friday, claiming the 80-year-old artist conspired with Opening Ceremony to steal her designs.

See Anna Wintour, Jane Birkin, Kirsten Dunst and More Model Chanel’s Little Black Jacket

Chanel just launched thelittleblackjacket.chanel.com, an “e-exhibition” of Lagerfeld-lensed models and celebrities wearing black Chanel jackets styled by Carine Roitfeld (a live exhibition just opened in Tokyo). While the website is not the easiest to navigate, it really made me want to buy The Little Black Jacket: Chanel’s Classic Revisited (only $39 on Amazon). Seeing all Read more →

Exclusive: Dossier Issue 8 Featuring Bambi Northwood-Blyth

A new issue of Dossier, one of our favorite glossies (and How I’m Making It panelists), drops this week and from what we’ve seen, it will be a good one. Yoko Ono follows Andrej Pejic as the latest Dossier cover star. Issue 8 features contributions from her as well as Kiki Smith, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Michael Stipe, Stevie Nicks, George Saunders, Robert Longo, Tom Sachs, Cyprien Gallard, Aimee Mullins, Nate Lowman, Devendra Banhart, Sloane Crosley, Olympia Le-Tan and AF Vandevorst, to name a few.

The ladies at Dossier were nice enough to send us an exclusive preview featuring one of our favorite models, Australian beauty Bambi Northwood-Blyth, shot by Dan Martensen. She does that whole rough around the edges, but still insanely gorgeous thing in a way that we’ll never be able to replicate. Click through to check it out!

Fashion’s Night Out: Where The Major Designers Will Be

Fashion’s Night Out is two weeks from tomorrow! There is more going on than we can even wrap our heads around. Having trouble deciding where you want to go and who you want to see the most?

Well, if you’re interested in catching a peak of one of your favorite designers, here’s a roundup of where some of the biggest and the best will be on September 10. We’ve excluded most of the people we’ve already reported on. Also, it’s almost safe to say that if someone isn’t on this list, they will probably be at Barneys.

Michael Kors
Michael will be at his lifestyle store on Madison and 61st in New York City. He will be joined by TONY Award winner Idina Menzel, whom Michael will accompany on a selection of songs. Michael will also make an appearance nearby at Bloomingdale’s 59th street, where the “World of Michael” will be created to kick off a new Michael Kors handbag shop-in-shop.

Tommy Hilfiger

Tommy will be kicking off FNO and his brand’s 25th anniversary at Macy’s Herald Square. As we’ve reported, Macy’s will house “The Ultimate Tailgate Party” as inspired by Tommy’s most recent ad campaign. Tommy will be accompanied by Macy’s CEO Terry Lundgren. He will also make an appearance at his Fifth Avenue store, where shoppers can have their purchases personalized with an exploding monogram while they shop, listen to DJ Toddlerone and drink up.

Last night’s Pratt Institute tribute to Irving Penn was one for the books: Anna Wintour gave a moving 20-minute tribute to Penn’s life and work, and Hamish Bowles taught what was virtually a master class on the style and genius of Vogue photographers since Edward Steichen. The event was part of Pratt’s President’s Lecture Series. Read more →
