Earlier today, YSL’s new ad for Manifesto starring Jessica Chastain hit the internet (via an old Instagram) and as beautiful as it is, the purple paint covering her hands is a little puzzling. Even more puzzling: this isn’t the first time purple hands have shown up in a fashion photo.

Get excited: YSL’s Fall/Winter 2010-2011 Manifesto is about to launch right here in New York. The publication, along with a Stefano Pilati-designed tote, will be distributed on city streets this coming Tuesday, September 14.
