10 Fashion Reunions We Really Want To Happen

Lately it seems like reunions are everywhere: the Beverly Hills gang in Old Navy commercials, Entertainment Weekly‘s Reunions Issue, the upcoming Arrested Development reunion (the only one that truly matters, let’s get real). Funnily enough, no one called us to see who we’d like to see reunited, so we thought we’d make our own list. We’re not ones to be left out of a trend after all! We put our thinking caps on to come up with ten fashion reunions we’d like to see here at Fashionista – we will even moderate. It’s guaranteed to be way chicer than your high school reunion.

YSL’s Sketches Go Missing, Judy Garland’s Wizard of Oz Dress Goes on the Block, and How Balenciaga Accidentally Started the Size 0 Model Trend

Almost 300 original sketches from Yves Saint Laurent’s personal collection are missing. The saga spans four decades, stretches between two continents and implicates some pretty important fashion people–but the timing of this mystery prompted some to wonder whether it was YSl’s attempt to wag the dog after that whole Cathy Horyn/Hedi Slimane feud. {TheCut}

It’s been a wait of almost ten years, but Zara Home has finally made its way across the pond. The online shopping site launched in the US today. {SHEFinds}

Fashionista Week In Review: YSL Rebrands Under Slimane, Kate Upton Takes Over the Internet and the Best of Resort, Part Two

Saint Laurent Paris Does The Timewarp: On Wednesday, we reported that Yves Saint Laurent might be dropping the “Yves” as a means of rebranding the label under the direction of Hedi Slimane, and the very next day the storied fashion house confirmed, sending countless tweeters, bloggers and writers into a tizzy. We, on the other hand, started to think about what would happen if other design houses were to do the same.

Kate Upton’s Busy, Busy Week: The busty blonde graced the cover of GQ (which coincidentally channeled Azealia Banks in her latest music video for “Jumanji”), spoke onscreen about her love of America (and large breasts) and even taught Jimmy Fallon how to Cat Daddy. How’d she do it all? With some seriously genius self-marketing skills.

Asian Beauty Products That Might Just Save Your Skin: Okay, so maybe they won’t save your skin, but they’re certainly bizarre and intriguing enough to warrant a test-run. From charcoal shampoo to a chin contour mask to collagen-boosting marshmallows, we’re curious to see what will be first to hit the shelves of Sephora first (or, alternatively, be banned by the FDA).

Model-Turned-Actress, Everybody’s Doing It: Models are good looking people, and so are actresses. Actresses appear on magazine covers, and so do models. So it makes sense that models might whet their palates and give acting a try, right? Right. We rounded up the many, many models who have transitioned from runway to silver screen and analyzed how seamlessly and successfully they made the jump.

A Tribute to the Iconic Style of Loulou de la Falaise, Muse to Yves Saint Laurent

Loulou de la Falaise, the iconic muse and collaboratrice of Yves Saint Laurent died yesterday. She was 63.

In a 2002 New Yorker article about Yves Saint Laurent, writer Judith Thurman called “the quintessential Rive Gauche haute bohémienne” by the New Yorker, de la Falaise’s style served as the inspiration for YSL’s Le Smoking suit and YSL’s classic sheer blouse, a style de la Falaise often wore herself.

In addition to serving as muse and constant companion to Yves Saint Laurent, de la Falaise designed accessories for the iconic French house. As Cathy Horyn writes in her On the Runway post remembering de la Falaise, her “chunky bracelets and necklaces…helped establish the YSL look.” After Saint Laurent retired in 2002, de la Falaise launched her own ready-to-wear line, sold in a namesake boutique she opened on Rue Cambon.

We thought it fitting to remember Loulou de la Falaise through her incredible influential style. Take a look.
