If you’re curious what the next big thing in hair care will be and you want to have your say, now you can.

Dear Fashionista,

We’re looking for women who don’t merely love fashion, but live it. If you are always at the forefront of fashion and style then you need to be involved.

In March, an online community is launching to discover the vision of true fashion lovers on hair care, fashion and style in 2011. It will run for 3 weeks from March 1, 2011.

The community is an open and interactive space, in which you can share your knowledge and give your views, whenever and how often you like and you can be part of the team creating a new global haircare brand.

It’s not a one-way conversation, we really do want to hear your thoughts. The more you contribute the greater the reward and you will have the opportunity to connect with 100 other style leaders in the UK and the USA.

Apply here until February 25, 2011 for a chance to join the community–your active participation will be rewarded with a £25/$35 voucher plus the chance to win an iPad after the 3 week period.

Why not invite one of your friends to apply as well? If you are both selected, you could both receive an online gift certificate for net-a-porter.com worth £250/$300.

Please click here to answer a short questionnaire which will help us determine whether you will be selected to become part of the exclusive fashionista community.

Thank you in advance for your participation!

You might have heard rumors that some of the world’s top personal style bloggers–like Susie Bubble and Sea of Shoes–were in town a few weeks ago shooting with Garance Doré for Glamour. Well, it looks like those rumors were true. The shoot was for a new advertising campaign to promote Glamour.com‘s new Young & Posh [...]

Last year, Renaissance woman Diane von Furstenberg created the DVF Awards to honor and support inspiring women dedicated to transforming the lives of other women around the globe.

It’s about time again for Diane to present several ladies with some serious girl power. She’s giving away $50,000 to four women in support of their specific cause, and she needs your help! In addition to an award given to a prominent public figure who uses her influence for positive change, as well as two given to members of the Vital Voices Global Network (an organization that empowers emerging women leaders around the world), a final award will be chosen by popular vote.

And here’s the best part: Those who vote will be entered in a sweepstakes for a trip to NYC to attend the awards in a brand new DVF outfit.

Check out the five finalists for the People’s Voice Award on her Facebook page beginning Monday, January 31 and choose the woman who inspires you the most! Voting ends February 15.

I work in fashion, I loooove heels, but truthfully, I don’t wear them very often. And when I do, I often (not always, but often) regret it. That’s why I’m constantly on the hunt for great-looking flats and low heels that work with my pre-existing wardrobe. And that’s why Scarpasa, a website that only carries [...]

Sleek and Stylish Tech Gadgets and Accessories

Wednesday, Dec 22, 2010 / 1:00 PM

Finally, the tech gods have shined upon us fashion types.

From the iPad and its multiple covers to woodgrain headphones, this season those who appreciate great form in their high-function gadgets will get what they’ve wished for.

We’re obsessed with the iPad, which lets us watch exclusives from out favorite fashion glossies–like Love and Interview–via a richly colored, high-definition screen. Using the iPad’s shopping apps, like those offered up by Gilt Groupe and Shop Style, is almost as good as seeing the clothes in person. But our favorite pastime? Watching old clips from Style with Elsa Klensch, CNN’s long-running fashion program, which sadly went off the air in 2000.

And of course, the sleek, minimalist physicality of the iPad isn’t lost on fashion-lovers. In fact, many of this season’s runways were inspired by clean lines and bold, graphic colors, which fit right in with the iPad and its accessories. If you would like to dress your tablet up, Stella McCartney, Chanel, Dooney & Bourke, Louis Vuitton, Oscar de la Renta, and more offer gorgeous covers that complement their current collections. McCartney’s for instance is black with a metal edging, and was designed in a gorgeous faux-leather.

But not every fashionable tech accessory–or fashion inspired by tech–is connected to the iPad. We’re really impressed with computer-generated graphics, and so are plenty of designers. From Christopher Kane to Erdem to Michael Angel to the late, great Alexander McQueen, out-of-this-world graphics are a huge part of today’s trends. And we have personal computers to thank.

This winter, everyone from San Francisco to Maine is feeling the chill. Indeed, here in New York we’ve experienced record lows in temperature, and it’s not even January yet.

But with all the technical advances in fabric and production, you’d expect that we wouldn’t have to rely on those bulky layers to stay toasty any longer. And you’d be right. From whisper-thin thermals that keep you warm to gloves that allow you to use a touch screen, there is a ton of great cold weather gear that also happens to be cute, too. So much, in fact, that we even devoted a holiday gift guide to all things stylish and tech-savvy.

Even if you live in warmer climes–we’re jealous!–there is a ton of techie gear to scoop up. While high-end designers like Norma Kamali and Stella McCartney are getting in the game, showing sportswear-inspired looks on the runway, you can find everything–from vests that conceal your iPod to light-up sneakers–at your local mall. Which means achieving that high-tech, high-fashion look isn’t too difficult after all.

This post is brought to you by Old Navy.

Chanel Private Sale on Rue La La

Tuesday, Oct 26, 2010 / 4:00 PM

There was a buzz behind the scenes at Rue La La when we all laid eyes on the Chanel pieces that New York-based Madison Avenue Couture painstakingly curated for our Members. Just a few of the statement-making offerings that had us all talking: the classic quilted flap bags with the famous “CC” interlocking logos in different colors, beautiful bouclé tweed jackets with logo buttons that work with jeans and pencil skirts, a rare coat from the famous “Devil Wears Prada” collection, funky boots that turn leggings into a fashion statement, hard-to-find necklaces and earrings from the 1980s, cozy winter coats and scarves to brave the cold in high fashion.

Only one of each coveted piece will be featured in our Boutique, so we suggest arriving early (we’re all setting our reminders and postponing meetings as we speak). The Madison Avenue Boutique opens at 11AM on October 27th and lasts just two days.

Here’s your exclusive invite: www.ruelala.com/fashionistacom
