Color, Crop Tops and Pant Suits: 11 Unconventional Wedding Looks From the Spring Bridal Shows

Many modern brides walk the line these days of wanting to maintain some tradition in their weddings while also highlighting their individuality. For sartorial risk takers, bridal designers have plenty of options for brides who want something besides the usual full skirted ivory gown with a sweetheart neckline (not that there’s anything wrong with that, of course.)

Rules are falling by the wayside: bright color, interesting hemlines, and even pants (and a crop top!) walked down the aisle runway for spring 2013.

Rami Kashou Talks His New Bridal Line for Bebe, Says Project Runway Is Just ‘a Game Show’

With the popularity of bridal fashion at an all-time high (honestly, what did we do before Bridesmaids and Say Yes to the Dress marathons?), even the most affordable and unlikely of stores are getting in on the wedding bliss. J.Crew launched its well-received bridal collection in 2010, followed by the debut of Anthropologie’s BHLDN wedding site in 2011, and most recently, Topshop released the plans for its first bridal collaboration with designer Richard Nicoll. Why You Could Be Walking Down the Aisle In Vera Wang’s David’s Bridal Collection

Chances are David’s Bridal never crossed your lips–let alone your mind–as your wedding gown destination. Then came Vera Wang. The reigning queen of bridal chic has inked a deal the national purveyor of bridal bargains to debut White by Vera Wang. The designer, along with top David’s Bridal brass, unveiled the collection to a room full of reporters yesterday morning. If the formal presentation and genteel decor seemed a touch ornate at first, one glance at the collection justified it: the gowns were exquisite. From a pale pink confection crafted from what looked like acres of organza to an ethereal hand-cut bias organza gown, it was clear that Wang did not hold back creatively for this collection.
