Much has already been said about the women —
Cate! Alicia! Taraji! — who sartorially stole the show at the 2016 Golden Globes. And while said ladies certainly deserve every iota of praise, styled-minded or otherwise, that they've received, it's not entirely fair to discount the dudes of Hollywood altogether. On Sunday night, certain gentlemen not only stepped up to the plate, but also hit a goddamn grand slam. (I'm not using a sports-related trope because they're guys, but because I really like baseball analogies myself.)
To celebrate boys in pretty clothes, we at
Fashionista compiled our top 10 menswear looks of the evening and ranked them from "best" to "bestest." I won't give too much away, but I can promise that Ryan Gosling, teased above, is hidden somewhere in the slideshow for your enjoyment.
Now go, click away!
10. Paul Dano in Prada: The "Love & Mercy" and "Little Miss Sunshine" actor arrived with girlfriend Zoe Kazan in a cobalt tuxedo by Prada. (Fittingly, his date was wearing sister brand Miu Miu. Aw!) The look was suave, and just splashy enough to stand out against the herd of all black. Well done. Photo: Steve Granitz/WireImage 9. Bryan Cranston in Givenchy: There's not a speck of (Walter) white in Cranston's head-to-toe black tuxedo, which he smartly paired with clompy, elegant dress shoes and a slight smirk. You know the one. Photo: Jason Merritt/Getty Images 8. Wiz Khalifa in Thom Browne: Because any man who rocks Gucci's horsebit loafers on the red carpet is an automatic shoe-in (hardy-har) for our menswear round-up. All in all, it was a look full of punchy, signature touches — including sunglasses to hide the fact that he was probably super stoned — and it was greatly appreciated. Photo: Steve Granitz/WireImage 7. David Oyelowo in Dolce & Gabbana: While Oyelowo has long been known to don some of Hollywood's more playful attire, Sunday night's purple extravaganza took it to a new level. Perhaps he'll go for a turquoise suit at the SAG Awards, or a crimson one for the Oscars? Only time will tell. Photo: John Shearer/Getty Images 6. Eddie Redmayne in Gucci: A custom polka-dotted suit. My lord. Need we say more? Photo: Jason Merritt/Getty Images 5. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson: Immediately after Mr. Rock appeared on E!'s pre-show, Twitter was abuzz with talk of a certain crushed velvet suit jacket. Indeed, the chatter was worthy: In a rich, beautiful shade, the garment caught our eye without it being too ostentatious. Also, let's be real — who doesn't love The Rock? Jon Hamm in Dolce & Gabbana: If we're being honest, this pick is all about how damn sexy this guy is — and how happy we are that he nabbed one final statuette for his iconic portrayal of Don Draper in "Mad Men." Photo: John Shearer/Getty Images 3. Michael B. Jordan in Dior: It's impossible not to enjoy everything this "Creed" actor has worn as of late, and for good reason. He takes calculated, chic risks on the red carpet which (almost always) work out to his advantage. This sleek, double-breasted situation was no different. Photo: Steve Granitz/WireImage 2. Oscar Isaac in Rag & Bone: "Star Wars"'s Poe Dameron won big, not simply for his role in "Show Me a Hero," but also with that sharp, exquisitely fitted Rag & Bone tuxedo. He's the best freaking pilot in the galaxy, you know. Photo: John Shearer/Getty Images 1. Ryan Gosling: Finally, one Ryan Thomas Gosling straight-up stole the show in a white tuxedo jacket reminiscent of the 1940s and 1950s. There's no man who could've pulled off this glamorous style quite as successfully as Gosling, and we salute him for going vintage. (Oh, and Brad Pitt is in this picture, too.)
