Is cobalt the new black?
By Dara Prant
The red carpet rainbow favored vibrant blues this week, with the on-trend tone making an appearance at premieres and parties all around the globe. The cobalt-colored festivities kicked off at the Grammys and closed out with Kate Middleton's trip to Sweden, with numerous celebrities getting in on the winter blues (the good kind) in between.
"Call Me by Your Name" star Timothée Chalamet attended the London Film Critics' Circle Awards in a striking blue Berluti suit, displaying his true gift for pulling off cropped pants. Meanwhile, Jessica Chastain wore an azure-colored Louis Vuitton dress in a classic silhouette to a "Molly's Game" press event in Australia. In New York City, "Pitch Perfect 3" lead Anna Kendrick wore a strapless, sapphire-sequined Rasario dress, which she paired with a holographic mini bag and black block heels. And then across the Atlantic, Alicia Vikander dined with the Swedish Prime Minister at the British Ambassador's residence in a long sleeve, electric-blue Louis Vuitton frock.
Of course, not all stars were on-board with the dazzling winter blue trend. "Fifty Shades Freed" actress Dakota Johnson made a statement in red, opting for a crimson Cuchnie et Ochs number and a matching lip. Similarly, a group of brilliant film talents arrived at the "Black Panther" film premiere dressed in a wide array of vivid colors.
