While we expected for Kylie Jenner to use the Kardashian family's annual Christmas card to confirm whether the heir to the Kylie Cosmetics empire would make their arrival in 2018, Kylie — and momager Kris Jenner, of course — had other plans!
On Sunday, Kylie took to Instagram to (finally!) announce both her pregnancy and the birth of her "beautiful and healthy baby girl," who arrived earlier this week on Thursday, Feb. 1. In an emotional video directed by Tyler Ross and accompanying Instagram statement, the 20-year-old cosmetics mogul apologized for veering from tradition and keeping her 101 million-plus followers on the platform "in the dark" for the past nine months. She noted that "my pregnancy was one I chose not to do in front of the world," adding: "I knew for myself I needed to prepare for this role of a lifetime in the most positive, stress-free and healthy way I knew how." Finally, she wrote that "pregnancy has been the most beautiful, empowering and life-changing experience" she's had in her lifetime, also thanking her friends and family for keeping her pregnancy as private as possible. You can read her full statement below:
The Kardashian-Jenner-West lineage has had no shortage of baby news of late: In January, Kim Kardashian welcomed baby Chicago West via surrogate, and in December, Khloé Kardashian announced that she's expecting her first child with Cleveland Cavaliers player Tristan Thompson. We'll have a close eye on the expanding family enterprise through the rest of 2018 and eagerly anticipate the adorable new faces that await us in this year's edition of the Christmas card. (And, considering how flawlessly Kylie's pregnancy secret was kept, we might want to consider addressing the holiday as "Krismas" moving forward in honor of the World's Best Momager.)
