One of the things I'll absolutely never shut up about is that I vaguely know how to surf, and that I enjoy surfing very much. Part of never being able to shut up about surfing is that I really feed into its cult of personality, and with fashion hopping on board — haha, like a surfboard, get it? — with tropical prints and the like of late, I've been on high alert for any small, indie surf brands to follow across social media. One such brand is Salt Surf, is now based outside of Los Angeles in Culver City, but was started right here in New York in 2011. Though Salt Surf's "quality-made, progressive boards" are its bread-and-butter, it also produces a quality line of apparel — including tees, sweatshirts, sweatpants, parkas, swim trunks, hats and more — all of which is 100 percent vegan.
As a big wearer of T-shirts, I'm always on the lookout for new ones, especially those with nice sentiments or graphics that make me feel great. I just love Salt Surf's Nice and Cool tee (in this cute, putty-ish peach color) for its kind saying, as well as its easy-to-wear construction. Its tees are treated with an enzyme wash to give each product an extra-soft feel and are built to keep a lose fit throughout. Plus, every graphic print is printed with water-based inks, the likes of which I wrote about last year and have been obsessed with ever since. I love the shirt, and I love everything that it represents. Including, intolerably, the surfing stuff.
Nice and Cool Tee in Peach, $36, available at Salt Surf.
