Wildfang, a Portland-based retailer known for its menswear-inspired styles and irreverent messaging, is releasing its first-ever range of inclusive suiting. The new line will feature sizes 2-20, with jackets sizing up to a 2XL.
"Having the ability to rock a suit and feel the confidence it brings you is something all women should be able to experience," Wildfang Creative Director Taralyn Thuot told Fashionista via email. "So even as a small business, we felt it critical to offer sizes 2-20 in our first-ever line of size-inclusive Wildfang suits. And to put our money where our mouth is, we fit and photographed the suit on a range of women of different shapes and sizes. We want women to feel empowered to suit up."
Founded in 2013 by Nike alums Emma McIlroy and Julia Parsley, Wildfang has accrued a sizable social following through its tomboyish aesthetic, "wild feminist” T-shirts and activist attitude (the brand frequently raises money and awareness for organizations like Planned Parenthood and She Should Run, which supports women running for office). It's also collaborated with the likes of Obey, Carhartt and pop culture figures like 2 Dope Queens's Phoebe Robinson and "Broad City"'s Ilana Glazer.
