White was the indisputable sartorial trend of the evening.

The Oscars are not typically a night for any major risk-taking on the red carpet, but that doesn't mean there is any shortage of Good Dresses. Stylists know this is not just another awards show: It's the grand finale, and a time for elegance. This year, white was the indisputable number-one trend: chic, if a bit safe — and perhaps a nod to suffragettes in the era of Time's Up?
There were a few exciting aberrations, though, like Greta Gerwig in yellow Rodarte, Viola Davis and Saoirse Ronan in pink, and St. Vincent in super-short, black Saint Laurent.
Where men were concerned, Timothée Chalamet and Armie Hammer delivered once again — Chalamet meeting our already-very-high sartorial expectations in a cool cropped white suit-black boot combo by Berluti.
