PAI Partners Acquires Elemis From L’Occitane

L’Occitane Group has agreed to sell British skin-care brand Elemis to private equity firm PAI Partners. The companies did not disclose financial terms, and closing is expected in the first quarter of 2027, subject to regulatory approvals. Elemis’ net sales nearly doubled to more than $300 million in fiscal 2026 during L’Occitane’s seven years of ownership, and the U.S. now accounts for about half of sales. “We see significant opportunities to accelerate growth in the U.S. and expand the brand’s digital business, while preserving its distinctive British identity,” Gaëlle d’Engremont and Colm O’Sullivan, partners at PAI, said in a statement. {PAI Partners}

ShopMy Opens First Physical Retail Event

Creator commerce platform ShopMy will hold its first physical retail experience, The Holiday Market by ShopMy, from Dec. 11 to 13 at Storied in West Chelsea. The market, in the former studio of photographer Annie Leibovitz, will feature 65 brands across fashion, accessories, beauty, home and lifestyle, including Natura Bissé, Lingua Franca, Perfect Moment and Louis Poulsen. Coty Secures 40-Year Beauty License for Marc Jacobs

Coty announced a 40-year extension of its Marc Jacobs license with WHP Global and G-III Apparel Group. The beauty company has made Marc Jacobs fragrances, including Daisy and Perfect, since 2003. It relaunched Marc Jacobs Beauty at hundreds of Sephora stores this year, noting that the line’s retail sales are already exceeding targets. Revolve Group Q3 Sales Rise 20%

Revolve Group reported Q3 sales rose 20% to $356 million, but higher shipping costs cut into profit. Net income fell 27% to $15.5 million, and adjusted EBITDA dropped 7% to $23.5 million. The Fashion Scholarship Fund, the oldest fashion-oriented education and workforce development nonprofit, appointed five new members to its Board of Governors: Paula Fallowfield, chief human resources officer of LVMH Americas; Nina Flood, global brand president of Timberland; Joy Herfel-Cronin, group president of wholesale North America at Ralph Lauren; Toretha McGuire, chief people officer of Fanatics; and Rachna Shah, global CEO of public relations firm KCD. “Their perspectives, leadership and guidance will be invaluable as we continue to expand the support we provide to Scholars and Alumni as they pursue careers in our industry,” said President of the Fashion Scholarship Fund Peter Arnold. {Fashionista inbox}

That’s what Founder Isabella Di Stefano wants to change with her new brand, Original Heir. “Most people have no idea what hairbrush they should be using, what the bristles are actually doing or why one brush costs $10 and another costs $200,” she tells Fashionista via email. “Bristle material, flexibility, spacing and placement all change the way a brush interacts with your hair, and I felt those should be driving the product decisions.”

Di Stefano felt like the brush category was making customers choose between “something smart and something beautiful,” and she wanted both. She questioned why travel brush handles are so tiny, why the bristles are exposed inside your bag and other pain points, and set out to create a solution. But she also wanted it to be a tool “you actually want to pull out in public.”

That starts with two fully enclosed folding travel brushes: Pronta Smooth ($69) and Pronta Untangled ($59). The former features natural boar and gem-infused nylon bristles to help reduce static while smoothing the hair. The latter uses widely spaced, gem-infused TPEE bristles to work through tangles without brushing out your style.

Two full-size versions are coming in mid-November and are available for pre-order: Bella Paddle Brush ($99) and Doppio Paddle Brush ($89). Bella is for smoothing, with the same natural boar and gem-infused nylon bristles as the Pronta Smooth, but with a sculptural, metal design. Doppio is designed to be used when your hair is wet or dry (hence the name meaning “double” in Italian) and has the same bristle technology as Pronta Untangled. Both have elongated handles designed for better grip, control and reach.

Since Di Stefano has a background in creative strategy, consumer behavior and brand-building, with experience at Calvin Klein, Barbie and the CFDA, she partnered with bioengineer and hair scientist Sareena Karim (who previously worked with K18, L’Oréal and Dove) to experiment with different materials and bristle combinations, developing solutions to common hairbrush-related concerns such as static, breakage and uneven oil distribution.

“We think very carefully about what we put on our hair, but much less about the tool physically interacting with it every day,” Karim said in a statement. “Brushing involves friction, tension, static and mechanical forces, so the design of the brush matters. Our goal was to look closely at those interactions and create tools that are more thoughtful about how hair actually behaves.”

Original Heir is also making a case for the hairbrush as a beauty accessory in its own right. With chrome finishes, natural gemstones and sculptural silhouettes, the collection feels closer to something you’d display on a vanity than a tool you’d toss into a bathroom drawer. It’s a deliberate departure from the austere designs that have long dominated the category, and one that taps into the growing appetite for everyday objects that feel special.

“Beauty can get so serious. I love nostalgia, glamour, fantasy and the idea of making something as familiar as a hairbrush feel exciting again,” Di Stefano said. “We can be rigorous about the science and still have a lot of fun with the world around it.”

“Over the past few months, we have tried everything to preserve Coperni and find a resolution to the conflict with our shareholder and distributor, Tomorrow,” the co-founders said in a statement. “Despite all our efforts, no solution could be found. It is with profound sadness that we announce today that Coperni SAS is ceasing operations.”

In February 2026, Coperni opted to not show at Paris Fashion Week as its relationship with Tomorrow Ltd. “has deteriorated significantly, to the point that Coperni no longer has the means to support its development,” per the co-founders. Then, in March, Tomorrow Ltd. was subsequently sold to Progetto 11, the parent company of Italian e-commerce firm The Level Group, for an undisclosed sum. Coperni’s designers sought to take control of their label, but their bids were reportedly not accepted by the group, according to Business of Fashion. Coperni entered receivership in June as a Paris court granted the label court protection.

Tomorrow Ltd. also owns a majority stake in Martine Rose, who had to cancel the production of her brand’s most recent collection. (However, Tomorrow Ltd. later said it would be “regularly producing” Martine Rose’s Fall 2026 collection, according to an announcement viewed by Complex.)

Meyer and Vaillant first met at the Parisian fashion school Mod’Art International, and later launched Coperni in 2013. The design duo were named creative directors of Courrèges in 2015 before returning to relaunch Coperni in 2018. The label went on to make waves in the fashion industry for its innovative designs and runway concepts, including the viral spray-on dress modeled by Bella Hadid at its Spring 2023 show and its Air Swipe Bag made from NASA’s nanomaterial silica aerogel (the lightest solid on Earth that is also used to capture stardust). Coperni also introduced C+, or “carewear” garments infused with a synbiotic blend of probiotics and prebiotics that seep into the skin when worn to “rebalance the microbiome.”

“These eight years have been incredible,” the co-founders said. “We have been able to bring our ideas to life, meet unforgettable people and share moments we would never have dared to imagine when we first embarked on this journey.”

Meyer and Vaillant signed off by saying “see you soon,” perhaps hinting that this won’t be the last the industry sees of the design duo.

“Signing a 10-year contract on a nearly 5,000-square-foot space for your first retail store is a very brave move,” the Miami-based entrepreneur told Fashionista at a preview of the space. “Some might say it’s stupid, but I like to say ‘brave and ambitious.’ I think it makes women believe that Oner is a brand that they are going to have for life.”

While the investment might be risky, Cela was intentional and thorough in bringing the store to life. For one, the store is exceptionally well-located at 0 Bond Street, right next to Equinox. (That wasn’t a happy coincidence — Cela wanted that exact spot.) Then there’s the store interior, meant to look like a fitness enthusiast’s dream closet.

“If there’s one thing to know about girls that really love activewear, it’s that they usually have a dedicated activewear wardrobe,” she said. “I want women to walk into the store…and see that everything has its own place — similar to a wardrobe.”

The space is compartmentalized into four sections: “Lift” for weight-training-appropriate attire; “Hybrid” for high-intensity training outfits; “Stretch” for lower-intensity workout products; and “Living” for athleisure and loungewear. In a nook near the back of the store lies the “New York City Edit,” a section specifically curated for the NYC customer. (Oner is U.K.-based.) It includes cashmere sweaters, heavyweight puffers, contrast-piped sports bras and organic cotton tees.

The shopping experience is further elevated by (“obnoxious,” as Cela put it) floor-to-ceiling mirrors scattered around the softly lit space, which also boasts spacious fitting rooms, body-inclusive mannequins, a photobooth and a dedicated “boyfriend couch” where loved ones can rest while you’re busy shopping.

In a city filled with activewear options, Cela believes Oner can set itself apart. She argued that many of its competitors are more restrictive and project perfection. Oner, on the other hand, encourages women to be “messy,” she said, adding: “Women have been told to be someone all of our lives, so why would I want them to feel that way here? You should be able to express yourself how you want to.”

Overall, Cela hopes that as customers come to the store, they enjoy a comfortable and relaxing shopping experience. “Shopping is a perk. It’s a luxury to many of us and the experience therefore should replicate that and it shouldn’t be frantic,” she said.

While Miista has expanded its product offering over the years to include a range of footwear and, more recently, clothing, boots are its bread-and-butter. Of course, L.A., with its crisp 85-degree November days, almost never requires anything with more coverage than a ballet flat. Since moving here from New York in 2017 (happily leaving my entire boot collection behind), I’ve always wondered how boots sell in SoCal.

“I wonder that myself, I’m scared!” Miista’s founder and creative director, Laura Villasenin, admitted when I previewed the store last week. It had only just opened, but an associate confirmed that some boots had been purchased already. A relief, if a confusing one. “I’m like, why are they buying boots? It’s so warm,” she said.

In Europe, Miista has stores in Barcelona, London and Paris. But as an indie brand, it takes a “very sustainable and slow” approach to expansion, spending at least a couple of years on each store opening and using each one as a learning opportunity. Even before investing in U.S. storefronts, the brand tested the New York and L.A. markets with unique events, like a rave in a clothing factory where guests could bring their old Miista pieces and have them repaired while they danced. “That made us understand how much of a craving for Miista there is in the U.S.,” Villasenin shared.

Bookending the brand’s name on the store’s exterior are two phrases: “Our physical corner of the world” sits on the left. Per Villasenin, that’s “because it takes us so long to make a corner and to make it the way we like.” On the right is, “Our dedication to the alternative,” which refers to Miista’s community and “belonging to a certain way of seeing society, belonging to a certain way of seeing culture, belonging to a certain way of seeing politics,” she added.

“We also say that we do things a bit in the opposite way at Miista: remaining independent, crafting our fashion with a short supply chain, making sure that we put a lot of effort on the craft and the people,” she continued. Starting with shoes, and then expanding into apparel a decade later, is another example of the brand taking an alternative route.

“It’s definitely taking longer for people to realize that we also make apparel,” she shared. “Our footwear category has been so strong from the beginning. And I think people sort of put you [in a box]: ‘Okay, Miista is the shoe brand,’ and we don’t want to be the shoe brand. We really don’t like to be categorized.” That explains why clothing makes up the new store’s “centerpiece,” where handmade knits and sporty separates hang on custom metal rails designed to look like sound waves — a nod to the brand’s connection to music.

It was the perfect backdrop for a store opening party the night before — the first of many, according to Villasenin. There, guests proved that boots are as much a stylistic choice as they are a practical one. After all, it was at least 70 degrees out, but that wasn’t stopping anyone.

Yeezy Sets First Runway Show in Four Years

Wage Protests Persist at Bangladesh Garment Factories

Garment workers in Bangladesh held a fourth day of wage protests on Tuesday, with police using tear gas as clashes disrupted factories and transport in the world’s second-largest apparel exporting sector. Zalando Posts Q3 Growth as B2B Revenue Surges

Zalando’s third-quarter gross merchandise volume rose 7.5% to €4.5 billion ($5 billion) in Q3, with revenue up 5.1% to €3.2 billion ($3.6 billion). Business-to-business (B2B) revenue jumped nearly 28% to €354 million ($396.26 million). Adjusted EBIT increased 10.6% to €106.5 million ($119.2 million), though net income swung to an €18 million ($20.15 million) loss. Nanushka Closes All Its Physical Stores

Hungarian label Nanushka has closed all of its physical stores, paused wholesale production for upcoming collections and reduced staff from 150 to 20 due to a significant profit decrease and immense debt. Nanushka board member Peter Baldaszti told Business of Fashion that the brand had an overly ambitious expansion plan, which put heavy pressure on the company’s finances. Style Capital Acquires No. 21

Rent the Runway Expands Into Designer Handbags

Rent the Runway has added luxury handbags to its assortment. These selections will be available exclusively to Icon members, the company’s most loyal customers. Capri Reports Revenue Decline in Q2 2027

People Inc. Cuts 195 Jobs

People Inc., Barry Diller’s company formerly known as IAC, is laying off 195 employees primarily in print and website departments, according to a memo from CEO Neil Vogel. The company, which owns People, InStyle and Byrdie, had 5,156 employees at the end of last year. Vogel said it has hired 320 people in 2026 and plans more “meaningful investments” in 2027. The layoffs came a day after MGM Resorts’ CEO said discussions between the two companies had ended, following People Inc.’s abandoned bid for a majority stake in MGM. {The Hollywood Reporter}

Dries Van Noten Names Adrian Ward-Rees President

Hugo Boss Resets Womenswear Under Kerstin Dorst

Hugo Boss is resetting its womenswear business, starting with its Fall 2027 collection, under Kerstin Dorst, who joined in January as senior vice president of the womenswear unit. The RealReal Q3 Revenue Jumps 19%

Pieter Mulier To Make Versace Debut in January

Versace will return to Paris Couture Week in January 2027 with Pieter Mulier’s first collection for Atelier Versace. Puig Targets Over €8 Billion in Revenue by 2032

Spanish luxury fashion and beauty group Puig aims to exceed €8 billion ($8.9 billion) in annual revenue by 2032, mainly through organic growth. The company expects adjusted EBITDA above €1.8 billion ($2 billion), and adjusted EBITDA margin above 22.5%. Charlotte Tilbury is set to grow to about 1.5 times its current size by 2032, while Uriage is expected to double. Celine CEO Séverine Merle said the fashion house is putting “desirability” at the center of its strategy under Creative Director Michael Rider, in an interview with Vogue Business. Chanel and Miu Miu joined Prada at the top of the podium, respectively taking the silver and bronze. Gucci came in fourth place, followed by Saint Laurent in fifth. Celine entered the top 10 for the first time on the heels of its Reebok partnership, which claimed the third spot on the hottest products list.

As for the newcomers, Dries Van Noten and Khaite made their Lyst Index debuts at numbers 16 and 20, respectively. With a 27% quarter-on-quarter demand spike, the former also boasts the fifth-hottest product of Q3: the $845 Long Wrap Scarf-Skirt. Diesel stood out as this quarter’s only re-entry at 18, as Glenn Martens’ electric final bow pushed the label onto the list for the first time since Q1 2024.

Accessories dominated Lyst’s Q3 top fashion finds: Slouchy top-handle handbags à la COS’ Trullo Flap Bag ($370) and Balenciaga’s Rodeo Bag ($4,590) became summer’s favorite style, while Cartier’s Tank Watch ($3,750) was the first timepiece to enter the list since 2021 as demand for the classic silhouette rose 83% quarter-on-quarter.

Following the resurgence of 2010s-era trends like mullet hems and mint-green colorways, Vans’ nostalgic Premium Authentic Sneakers ($80) are also resurfacing, with demand up 29% year-over-year. Meanwhile, Phoebe Philo’s Peak Sunglasses ($520) reigned as this quarter’s undisputed top shades due to a whopping 525% demand increase in Q3.

In addition to ranking fashion’s big luxury players, Lyst also tracks the industry’s “moving fast” brands, or rising labels worth keeping an eye on. Conner Ives — a New York-born designer currently based in London — led Q3’s cohort, with the brand seeing a 49% quarter-on-quarter lift in searches. This buzz follows Ives’ recent stateside return to show at New York Fashion Week for the first time in September. Plus, the label’s Reconstituted Vintage Robe has become a popular pull among celebrities like Hailey Bieber, Kate Moss and Jennifer Lawrence.

NYC-based label Emily Dawn Long joins Conner Ives on the “moving fast” list, as it saw a 17% spike in demand following its 2026 CFDA Emerging Designer of the Year nomination. Celebrating its 10-year anniversary, Copenhagen-based label Mfpen is also on the rise, with Lyst logging a 37% quarter-on-quarter bump after a buzzy collaboration with New Balance.

In late September, Proenza Schouler opened its first West Coast flagship on Melrose Place, an iconic shopping street in Los Angeles. It boasts a prime location next door to the always-bustling Alfred Coffee (IYKYK), its clean, white custom plaster façade standing out amongst the surrounding ivy-covered brick. Proenza Schouler’s neighbors do include many fellow NYC exports, like Thom Browne, Khaite, The Row and Rachel Comey.

“Our point of view is unmistakably New York… the precision, the construction, the approach to fabric,” admits Shira Suveyke Snyder, the brand’s CEO. But, she adds, there’s an effortlessness to it that translates well beyond the East Coast: “You look put together without ever looking like you’re trying too hard. Los Angeles has that same ease, which made it a natural fit.” Los Angeles was already one of Proenza Schouler’s most engaged markets. As for Melrose Place, “The street itself felt instinctively right,” Snyder adds. “It’s walkable and residential, with a quiet intimacy that suits the way we want to welcome people.”

That said, “we didn’t want to simply drop a New York store into Los Angeles,” says Snyder. The store’s specific buy is curated for the L.A. customer, including “lighter tailoring and knitwear she can layer from a warm afternoon into a cool evening.” It also caters to VIP clients who “need more discretion with private appointments.”

Design-wise, the store features more warm, natural elements (dark walnut wood, onyx stone, lots of sunlight) than its NYC counterpart — which reflects both its location and Scott, the new creative director who oversaw it. She worked with James Mills Studio to bring her vision for Proenza Schouler — exploring “the tension between industrial precision and the raw touch of the human hand,” per brand materials — to life. Her love of craft and materiality is certainly evident in the elements mentioned above, complemented by stainless steel and concrete.

It’s a big moment for the company, marking its first store expansion outside of NYC; and for Scott herself, who had never overseen a store opening for her own brand or this one. Her first official collection for Proenza Schouler only hit stores a few months ago.

“We want the store to become part of the community here, hosting artists and makers and becoming a place for design and craft as much as fashion,” Snyder says of their overall goals for the space. “Success for us is a client who first found us online coming in, getting to know our team and staying with us however she chooses to shop.”

Additional store openings are likely on the horizon, but the brand isn’t in any big rush to grow its retail footprint. Per Snyder, “We’ll grow thoughtfully, when the right opportunity presents itself.”

EBay Cuts 9% of Workforce

EBay will lay off about 9% of its workforce as it simplifies operations and shifts resources to its fastest-growing areas, CEO Jamie Iannone told employees in a memo. This comes after the company cut about 6% of its staff, or 800 workers, in February. Its shares are up nearly 40% this year, compared with about 12% for the S&P 500. Why Chanel Is Backing Ebel

Chanel is part of an investor group that recently bought 95% of struggling Swiss watch brand Ebel in a $66.5 million deal. The group includes independent watchmaker F.P. Journe and former De Bethune CEO Pierre Jacques, who will lead Ebel. The deal covers the brand’s trademarks, intellectual property, inventory and Villa Turque, a Le Corbusier-designed house in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. EssilorLuxottica Shares Surge After Strong Q3 Report

EssilorLuxottica said Tuesday that third-quarter group revenue rose 9% as its traditional eyewear businesses outperformed. Group sales were nearly €7.5 billion ($8.42 billion). The core eyewear, eye-care and medical technology businesses, which make up most of revenue, grew more than 6%. Sales of smart glasses and other wearables, including the Meta glasses and Nuance Audio frames, grew about 21%, and were reported separately for the first time. WNBA Star Dearica Hamby Launches Tween Beauty Brand AMNO

WNBA player Dearica Hamby and her 9-year-old daughter, Amaya Marie, have launched a tween beauty brand called AMNO. The brand, short for “Always Me. Never Others,” sells four hair and body products for $12 to $16 each. Hamby funds 95% of the company, with friends providing the rest, and said she doesn’t want outside investors yet. On Tuesday, he was crowned the winner of the 2026 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. He won a $300,000 grand prize, and will receive business mentorships from industry leaders. The Chongqing-born, New York-based designer is known for his minimalist approach to technical fashion and avant-garde designs.

This year’s two runners-up are Aisling Camps and Emily Dawn Long. Each will receive $100,000 and further mentorship opportunities.

“Each of this year’s finalists bring a distinct point of view that only they could… Their true individuality is what makes American fashion so compelling and supporting their future is the responsibility of our industry… I look forward to seeing what they do next,” said Thom Browne, chairman of the CFDA, in a press statement.

Chloe Malle, head of Editorial Content at Vogue, added, “At a time when it can feel easier to follow the crowd, these designers are doing anything but. It’s been such a joy getting to know them, and I’m thrilled to celebrate our winners and see what all ten designers dream up next.”

The remaining finalists of this year’s CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund are Amir Taghi, Terrence Zhou of Bad Binch Tongtong, Jamie Haller, Julia Ferentinos of Juju Vera, George Inaki of Milamore, Claire Sullivan of Miss Claire Sullivan and Zoe Gustavia Anna Whalen.

“I wanted people to be able to touch and feel [the line],” Zangardi told Fashionista about venturing into wholesale. “Not to toot my own horn, the stuff looks really good in photos, but it’s so much better in person. It was so important to me that everything feels comfortable and soft.” He says Auter, which comprises both womenswear and menswear, is “fabric-first,” so it’s especially key for people to be able to try on the jackets and coats.

That means Whatnot has a lot of data on what people are shopping. The company just released its 2027 Consumer Trends Report, which outlines the “products, trends and communities” the company expects to be huge in 2027, based on 2026 data.

Fashion Live Shopping Trends

Someone call Paris Hilton, because the Y2K revival is getting a maximalist update, according to Whatnot. The platform expects “McBling,” which encompasses the rhinestone-covered, brightly colored aesthetic associated with the early 2000s, to take center stage in 2027. The company reported that searches for baguette bags rose 320% this year, while searches for rhinestones, low-rise styles and tracksuits each rose about 160%. The Louis Vuitton Speedy also ranked among the platform’s top-selling bag styles.

The Coach revival is still going strong, keeping with the vintage fashion boom. Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Chanel and Hermès remained among the platform’s most-searched names, while Coach appeared in nearly half of all vintage bag show titles on Whatnot in 2026. The report says Coach was mentioned about nine times as often as the next-most-mentioned brand, Dooney & Bourke. (Talk about a throwback.)

If you’ve been on TikTok lately, you’ve likely seen the rise of shoppers who look more closely at garment tags than designer labels. Whatnot found that people are paying closer attention to what their clothes are made of and seeking out specific materials. Searches for cashmere rose 140%, while searches for silk rose 100%. Legacy brands associated with craftsmanship and high-quality materials also saw strong search growth per the report, including Brioni (+350%), Zegna (+340%), Brunello Cucinelli (+220%) and Loro Piana (+130%). Whatnot predicts that natural fibers, leather and material craftsmanship will play a greater role in purchasing decisions in 2027.

Elements of classic Americana, including what the report calls the “Ralph Lauren” aesthetic, will continue to show up in fashion next year, but with a more eclectic feel. Whatnot describes the new direction as heritage sportswear mixed with luxurious textures, Western influences and “country-club-meets-ranch” dressing. Searches for tweed spiked 120%, while searches for Western styles shot up 100%, according to the report.

Skirts are more popular than ever, and Whatnot points to the Spring 2027 Prada runway as one indication of their potential prominence in 2027. According to the report, searches for skirts climbed 93%. Other rising trends that seemed ripped from the runways include floral brooches, silk scarves and big sunglasses.

Beauty Live Shopping Trends

Beauty orders on Whatnot nearly tripled this year, according to the report. About 18 fragrance items sell per minute on average, and 72% of fragrance buyers returned for another purchase. Kayali, Tom Ford and Maison Francis Kurkdjian were the platform’s leading fragrance searches. Middle Eastern fragrance is especially growing: Searches and orders for Dubai perfumes tripled in 2026, according to the report, while gourmand notes such as vanilla remained favorites. Other rising fragrance searches included peony (+460%) and woody scents (+230%).

When it comes to skin care, unsurprisingly, K-beauty is still expected to be strong in 2027. K-beauty brands accounted for more than 80% of skin-care orders on the platform in 2026. Buyers also ranked anti-aging products among their top interests, and orders for those items roughly quadrupled. Glow-y “glass” skin was another leading search.

And if you’re tired of the no-makeup makeup, “clean girl” vibe, more glam looks seem to be back, but Whatnot is calling it “worn-in glam.” (Think: 2000s-era messy black eyeliner.) The platform’s data points to growing interest in darker eye makeup: Moody eyeshadow shades appeared at roughly twice the volume of neutral palettes throughout 2026. Textured hair is also expected to be big, as searches for hair crimpers tripled.

POV Beauty Raises Series A

POV Beauty, the skin prep brand co-founded by social media creator Mikayla Nogueira and beauty executive Ani Hadjinian, has raised a Series A round led by Silas Capital. Redo Capital joined the round, as did Imaginary Ventures, which backed the company before it launched in 2025. The company said it will put the money toward growth at Sephora, where it recently rolled out in all U.S. stores and online, as well as hiring, TikTok Shop sales and new products that blend skin care and makeup. {PR Newswire}

Vinted Pulls Listings Tied to Looting in France

Secondhand marketplace Vinted said it is removing listings suspected of containing looted goods after riots swept France over the weekend. Social media posts appear to show luxury shops such as Louis Vuitton, Burberry and Celine being ransacked, while Sephora said protesters broke into several of its locations; Vinted is now actively collaborating with law enforcement to prevent the resale of any potentially looted items. {Bloomberg}

Skechers Loses Kizik Patent Case in Europe

A European patent court has ruled that some of Skechers’ hands-free shoes infringe a patent held by Kizik’s parent company, HandsFree Labs Inc. The Unified Patent Court, whose rulings apply in 18 European Union countries, issued the decision on Oct. 16. The court ordered Skechers to pay damages and remove the shoes from the market in all participating countries, including Germany, France, Italy and Belgium. The Fashion Pact Names Chanel’s Bruno Pavlovsky Co-Chair

Bruno Pavlovsky, president of Chanel SAS and its fashion division, has been named co-chair of The Fashion Pact, the CEO-led climate and biodiversity coalition for the fashion industry. Pavlovsky, whose appointment took effect Oct. 13, will serve on the group’s steering committee. The coalition now has more than 50 signatories representing upward of 150 brands, including J.Crew, Burberry, Ralph Lauren and H&M Group. British luxury handbag maker Mulberry said Monday that first-half sales rose 18%. Why Brands Are Steering Away From Discounting Products

As major retailers and online marketplaces welcome heavy discounting as a way to draw in customers, the strategy has made it difficult for smaller brands that sell at full price to compete. The Dublin-born designer joined the Kering-owned label in 2023 as Sarah Burton’s successor. Since his debut Fall 2024 collection, McGirr has honored McQueen’s signatures, including sharp tailoring and eerie romanticism (he brought back the beloved skull scarf), while adding a punkish, youthful attitude. Unbeknownst to us all, he presented his final collection for the brand in September 2026 during Paris Fashion Week for the Spring 2027 season.

Kickstarter Forms Fashion Advisory Board

Kickstarter has named five fashion figures to a new advisory board aimed at helping independent designers. The members include Raul Lopez of Luar, Brandon Blackwood, Hillary Taymour of Collina Strada, Recho Omondi of The Cutting Room Floor and stylist Milton Dixon III. Through the end of 2026, they will offer guidance to creators and promote their work, and point them to the company’s $1 million Culture Fund. Makeup artist Isamaya Ffrench has left her namesake brand, Isamaya Beauty, according to two sources familiar with the business who said she departed in 2025. Galderma Buys ZO Skin Health for $1.5B

Galderma has agreed to acquire ZO Skin Health for $1.5 billion in cash from its shareholders. The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter or early 2027. ZO Skin Health, a brand sold through more than 16,500 accounts in 40+ countries, had net sales of about $330 million last year. “ZO Skin Health brings strong clinical credentials, a distinctive protocol-based approach and a trusted position among dermatologists and plastic surgeons,” said Galderma CEO Flemming Ørnskov in a press release. {Galderma}

LVMH Fashion Sales Fall 5%

LVMH’s fashion and leather goods sales fell 5% year-over-year in the first nine months of 2026 to €26.4 billion ($29.6 billion). A federal judge dismissed Sol de Janeiro’s trade dress infringement claim against MCoBeauty on Sept. 30, ruling the brand did not adequately show that the packaging elements it seeks to protect are nonfunctional. The court gave Sol de Janeiro until Oct. 20 to amend its complaint. European luxury companies have lost about $350 billion in market value this year as hopes of a rebound faded and weakness in China persisted. Aritzia Reports 44% Revenue Spike in Q2 2027

Aritzia shared its Q2 2027 financial results on Thursday, which showed a 44.1% net revenue increase to $1.17 billion. Its U.S. net revenue surged 60.3% to $779.4 million (comprising 66.6% of net revenue), while its Canada net revenue increased 19.8% to $390.4 million (33.4% of net revenue). LVMH and Kering Refresh Their Model Protection Guidelines

Kering and LVMH partnered in 2017 to sign a first joint charter on models’ working conditions, and now, the fashion conglomerates are strengthening their commitments. In the updated guidelines, the minimum age for models to represent adults in fashion shows or photoshoots is now 18 (an evolution of the minimum age set at 16 for LVMH in 2017). On TikTok, a new aesthetic called “ball hog” is on the rise. Zankov Names First CEO

Zankov has appointed Jack Tobin, founder of Jack Tobin Agency, as its first CEO and business partner. F.P.Journe and Chanel Acquire Watchmaker Ebel

F.P.Journe (formally known as Montres Journe SA) and Chanel have acquired a 95% interest in Swiss luxury watch brand Ebel for $66.5 million from Movado Group, Inc. Vaccarello was appointed creative director in 2016, following Hedi Slimane’s four-year run. From the very start, Vaccarello leaned into the House’s sensual codes, balanced by sharp tailoring. The designer also generated brand buzz beyond the runway: He cultivated a strong celebrity following, including Zoe Kravitz, Blackpink’s Rosé, Connor Storrie, Hailey Bieber and Charli XCX. Vaccarello also oversaw the launch of Saint Laurent Productions, the first full-fledged film production company operated by a luxury fashion brand.

“I would like to warmly thank Anthony for his 10 years of dedication to the House,” Cedric Charbit, president and CEO of Saint Laurent, said. “During his tenure, Anthony took Saint Laurent on a remarkable trajectory, elevating the House to the forefront of desirability and image, while accomplishing exceptional work both creatively and through his cultural impact.”

Rumors of Vaccarello’s exit had been circling for months. It felt almost confirmed at what became his last Spring 2027 runway show with the label, presented during Paris Fashion Week: It was an opulent affair with a dramatic backdrop, cryptic show notes hinting at his exit and a collection that pays homage to founder Yves Saint Laurent.

Vaccarello’s departure leaves him as the latest high-profile designer up for hire. Others on this list include Ib Kamara, Julien Dossena, Mark Thomas and Nicolas Di Felice.

Wittington Investments to Acquire Boots

Wittington Investments, Limited will acquire Boots and its associated businesses for $8.9 billion, the company announced Wednesday. Wittington, the holding company of the Canadian Weston family, will acquire Boots’ retail operations in the U.K. and Ireland; Boots Opticians; No7 Beauty Company; and its Thailand and franchised businesses. Telfar ‘Shows’ Spring 2027 Collection in Paris

Telfar Clemens staged his Spring 2027 show in Brooklyn on Oct. 6, even though it was on the official Paris Fashion Week schedule, leaving a Paris audience of about 300 to watch the runway on a giant screen in Théâtre Daunou. Anta Sports Secures $1.7 Billion Investment in Puma

Anta Sports Products Limited has completed its purchase of a 29.06% stake in Puma SE from the Pinault family’s investment company Artémis for €1.5 billion ($1.7 billion) in cash. ASOS Shares Fall 14% After App Notification Claims Hack

On Tuesday, an unidentified third party may have accessed basic customer information on ASOS’ app, such as names and contact details, after shoppers received a notification claiming hackers had “fully compromised” its data. The retailer said it does not believe payment card records or passwords were affected, and its website and app are “operating as normal.” However, shares fell as much as 14% before closing down by 9.56% after the company said it has cybersecurity insurance. {The Guardian}

Lacoste Fires CEO Before Paris Show

Lacoste has reportedly dismissed CEO Eric Vallat shortly before its latest Paris fashion show. Vallat joined in June 2025 to lead a push to move the brand upmarket. Marc Jacobs’ Post-LVMH Plan

Marc Jacobs’ namesake label is beginning a new chapter under WHP Global and G-III Apparel Group, which acquired it from LVMH this year. G-III CEO Morris Goldfarb has pledged to preserve the runway shows and the Spring Street headquarters, while setting a goal of lifting the handbag-heavy business to $1 billion in sales. L’Oréal Hires Restructuring Advisers Over Talc-Related Claims

L’Oréal’s U.S. unit has hired restructuring advisers Weil Gotshal & Manges and Ducera Partners to explore ways to handle mounting U.S. legal liabilities tied to talc and other chemical ingredients used in some of its products. One option under review would move the tort liabilities into a separate entity and sell it to an outside investor. Norway Moves to Restrict Smart Glasses in Public

Norway’s government plans to introduce a temporary ban on camera-equipped smart glasses in public venues such as parks, beaches, museums, schools and gyms, though private use would still be allowed. The minority Labour government needs support from other parties to pass the bill, and it has also tasked an expert group with drafting permanent rules. “I am worried that new, powerful technology is being introduced where people risk being photographed, filmed or audio-recorded without knowing it,” Digitalization and Public Governance Minister Torgeir Micaelsen said in a statement. {Reuters/paywalled}

Swedish Stockings Eyes U.S. Growth

The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) has revealed the nominee award presenters for the American Designer of the Year categories at the 2026 CFDA Fashion Awards. They are: Lupita Nyong’o presenting the American Womenswear Designer of the Year award; Matt Damon presenting the American Menswear Designer of the Year award; Naomi Osaka presenting the American Accessory Designer of the Year award; and Cole Escola presenting the Google American Emerging Designer of the Year award. Unpacking Frasers Group’s Acquisition Strategy

In an interview with Vogue Business, Frasers Group CEO Michael Murray breaks down what the company is accomplishing following its acquisition of Harvey Nichols and The Webster. With the former, Frasers Group plans to focus on Harvey Nichols’ brick-and-mortar footprint, starting with locations in Edinburgh and Manchester. Meanwhile, with The Webster, Frasers Group is focused on establishing flagships in key cities and then creating a more scalable Webster store format in “second-tier cities.” Murray also shared that Frasers Group is trying to buy a majority stake in Hugo Boss. {Vogue Business/paywalled}

“We didn’t do a lot of research about the best city to do the first store in,” Djerf tells Fashionista of the new flagship. “It’s always about the gut feeling, and New York is such a special place for us.”

The 29-year-old Swedish influencer, who launched Djerf Avenue with her fiancé Rasmus Johansson in 2019, cites community events such as the brand’s Guggenheim fashion show as an inflection point for her company, which did $36 million in sales in 2024.

Although a workplace harassment scandal threatened to throttle Djerf’s momentum, she managed to soften the blow by addressing the allegations — including claims of “bullying” and a “degrading” work environment — head-on. Acknowledging her shortcomings in a public apology, as well as a series of interviews, Djerf chalked it up to being a young, inexperienced first-time founder. Plus, Djerf Avenue’s rapid pace of growth made it challenging to scale.

With the appointment of seasoned retail consultant Nanna Hedlund as interim chief executive officer in 2025, the company promptly expanded its human resources department and created a work environment task force, allowing employees to submit anonymous surveys as feedback. Hedlund stepped down as interim CEO in February 2026 and now sits on Djerf Avenue’s board.

Djerf bounced back with a successful Selfridges pop-up in London a year after the exposé. Within hours of opening, Djerf Avenue purchases made up 70% of the floor’s sales, outpacing even Kim Kardashian’s Skims.

Perhaps it’s a testament to the quality of Djerf’s products, which are produced in Europe (Portugal, Italy and Sweden, to be exact) and available in sizes XXS to 3XL at a mid-range price point. She successfully expanded the brand beyond clothing and accessories, introducing homeware and beauty products that bolster Djerf Avenue’s mission to serve as a “big sister” to its customers.

This thread also runs through the new NYC boutique, which Djerf said is staffed with employees familiar with the sizing, fit and fabrication of each item.

“As a consumer myself — I’ve shopped in so many stores — the level of expertise [among sales associates] can look very different,” Djerf explains. “Sometimes you walk into a store and you don’t really feel welcome. That’s something we absolutely do not want, and it’s something we learned very quickly with our pop-ups. I wanted to bring Scandinavia to New York but I don’t want it to feel so cold and minimalistic that you’re scared to sit on the couch.”

The layout of the store, rendered with help from LEAP Architecture, was primarily designed by Djerf herself and takes inspiration from her island summer home in Sweden. (Think warm woods, lots of natural light and high ceilings.) The shop is also decked out in the brand’s best-selling hand-painted prints in the form of decorative drapery and upholstery.

The boutique is stocked with pieces Djerf Avenue fans know and love, such as its best-selling line of Go Slow pajamas and ready-to-wear staples like the Weekend Blazer. Shoppers will also be treated to a selection of in-store exclusives, including playing cards, reusable water bottles and yellow cab keychains.

Teaming up with local vendors was an integral part of Djerf Avenue’s pop-up strategy, a tradition that the new store is upholding. For opening weekend, Leon’s Bagels and Bluestone Lane returned to serve up strawberry bagels and matcha (a nod to the brand’s popular Summer Berries collection). Such collaborations are expected to be a consistent feature of the flagship.

With brick-and-mortar retail and in-person brand experiences on the upswing, now felt like the perfect time to start building out Djerf Avenue’s physical footprint. What’s more, the label’s typical customer purchases a higher quantity of items in-person as opposed to when shopping virtually.

“You get so much information from the customer that is incredibly important for growing the business and evolving as a business owner,” Djerf said of operating a standalone boutique. “When people try things on, you can stand in the store and immediately hear their first reaction. That’s something you can’t get when they purchase online.”

The Djerf Avenue flagship is now open at 25 Bond St. in New York City, Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Nike Cuts Jobs Under New ‘Pace’ Restructuring Plan

On Thursday, Nike announced a restructuring plan called “Pace” that will cut jobs next year and consolidate its four geographic regions into three, after quarterly sales fell 4% to $11.2 billion. For the collection, titled “Re(form),” Galliano deconstructed and reimagined Zara’s “archives” (past collections) through techniques such as physical and digital hacking, shrinking, magnifying, swatching and splicing. For example, an “archival” coat is revamped into a net dress with faux fur trims; a shirt is graded up three times its original size to resemble a leather coat; two trousers are cut and repurposed into sans-culotte pants; and a lace shift dress is refashioned into a ruffled collar.

Deconstruction wasn’t the only theme on Galliano’s mind: The collection also drew inspiration from Les Incroyables and Les Merveilleuses, the defiant dandies and divas of post-Revolutionary France. They’re “evoked in contemporary guises through subversive and illusory compositions,” according to the brand. “In the process, they appear through alternate lenses: the bourgeois spirit of the gardening wardrobe, the cinematic glamour of film noir.” Their influence appears in the overcoats, breeches and frock coats.

Galliano’s Zara collaboration follows a years-long (and perhaps ongoing) effort to rehabilitate his image. In 2011, the designer was infamously caught on video spewing racist and antisemitic comments at Jewish and Asian patrons of a Paris café. He was quickly fired from his Dior gig, and later entered a drug and alcohol rehab program. Much of the fashion world has slowly welcomed him back: He quietly helped create Oscar de la Renta’s Fall 2013 collection and was hired by Maison Margiela as creative director the following year. (He resigned in December 2024). Celebrity stylists continue to dress their clients in Galliano’s designs, and his work had a major presence on the 2024 Met Gala red carpet.

Amid its own upmarket rebrand, Zara announced a two-year creative partnership with the designer in March 2026. Not long after, news broke that he would be the subject of next spring’s dedicated Costume Institute exhibit and Met Gala, but the plans were canceled just a month later due to significant backlash.

Roger Lynch Steps Down as Condé Nast CEO

Condé Nast CEO Roger Lynch is leaving after more than seven years to become CEO of Mattel, announcing the move in a statement Wednesday. “When I joined Condé Nast, I had the simple ambition to leave this extraordinary place stronger than I found it,” he wrote, noting that since 2020 commerce revenue grew 170%, digital subscriptions grew 155% and U.S. tentpole events increased ninefold. Oura Delays IPO

Oura is putting its initial public offering (IPO) on Nasdaq on hold, citing uncertainty in the IPO market even as the smart ring maker says its business is continuing to grow. Oura’s paid memberships have reached 5.7 million users, and revenue is expected to grow 90% year-over-year in fiscal 2026. Stride Consumer Partners Raises $550 Million for Second Fund

Stride Consumer Partners — the backer of Odele, Crown Affair and Skinfix — has wrapped its second fund at $550 million, a 30% jump over its 2022 debut fund. Ralph Lauren To Stage First PoloFest in Tokyo

Ralph Lauren will hold PoloFest, a three-day celebration of Polo culture, from Oct. 23 to 25 at Jing Harajuku in Tokyo’s Shibuya district. The free event will feature an archival exhibition, a speaker series and a vintage marketplace with dealers from around the world. On Tuesday, Launchmetrics released its Spring 2027 NYFW report, which details the event’s impactful “voices” (celebrities, media and influencers) and the top 20 power players by media impact value (MIV). This season, Launchmetrics also took its newest metric — AI visibility (AIV) — out for a spin: This measures a brand’s presence in AI-generated answers across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity.

As a whole, NYFW generated a whopping $463 million MIV. In terms of format, social media placements drove 90% of the week’s total MIV at $416 million. Instagram dominated its fellow social platforms with its 55% share of MIV, but YouTube brought in more MIV per placement ($14K/placement, compared to Instagram’s $12K).

In terms of voices, 50% of total MIV came from media — meaning “any third-party entity publishing content written by media professionals” (so, Fashionista would be one example). After that, influencers contributed 28%, celebrities 10%, owned media 7% and partners (brands and retailers) 5%. As for Spring 2027’s top voices overall, Vogue U.S. once again reigned supreme ($13.2 million MIV), followed by Calvin Klein ($8.6 million MIV), Heart Evangelista ($7.6 million MIV), InStyle ($7.4 million MIV) and Mickey Blank ($6.9 million MIV).

Brand-wise, Tommy Hilfiger rose to the front of the fashion pack by raking in $58 million total MIV after taking a couple of years off from NYFW. (You may remember its previous venue: the Staten Island Ferry.) Calvin Klein came in second place with $47 million MIV, followed by Carolina Herrera with $20 million, Tory Burch with $19 million and Michael Kors with $16 million in MIV. H&M-owned retailer Cos, whose show was the site of that infamous PETA v. Steven Kolb altercation, took sixth place with $14 million in MIV. (It’s unclear how much of that was driven by the incident.)

Some surprising additions to the power-player list include Conner Ives ($5.6 million MIV) and Magda Butrym ($4.6 million MIV), both of whom made their NYFW debuts this season. Sabyasachi — an Indian luxury house founded by Sabyasachi Mukherjee in 1999 — also showed up on the list after returning to NYFW for the first time in 20 years, bringing in $5.3 million MIV.

As for the labels leading mentions on AI platforms, Diane von Furstenberg held the top position every day of NYFW, ending with an overall 9.9% share of AIV. The vast majority of these AI mentions centered around the label’s comeback, courtesy of Zankov, rather than the actual clothes themselves. Proenza Schouler came in second place with a 7.1% share of AIV, and it was the only label where critic reviews made up the largest share of AI coverage (22%), per the report.

Fashion Designer Sues Lego Over ‘Queer Eye’ Figurine’s Jacket

Fashion designer James Concannon has filed a lawsuit in Connecticut accusing Lego of copying a custom leather jacket he made for “Queer Eye” star Antoni Porowski. A miniature jacket marked with a peace sign and a skull appears on a figurine in Lego’s “Queer Eye – The Fab 5 Loft” set, which came out in September 2021. When Gap Inc. Creative Director Zac Posen began building Old Navy’s designer collaboration program, one of his top priorities was highlighting American talent. “I thought the American industry needed it, and we have such incredible talent here,” he tells Fashionista.

Anna Sui was the first label to participate in the program, followed by Christopher John Rogers. This fall, Old Navy tapped Altuzarra as its third designer collaborator. “Joseph [Altuzarra] has really built an incredible world, and he has a great sense of care,” Posen says. “He understands the joy and whimsy of our Old Navy customer.” There’s also a high-profile campaign star in the mix: Alexa Chung.

The collaboration came about organically, according to Joseph Altuzarra: “It was a really exciting opportunity to bring the storytelling and world of Altuzarra to the Old Navy customer.” His creative process began the same way he approaches his runway collections: with literature. Specifically, he referenced “Wuthering Heights” (as he did for Fall 2025) and “Pride and Prejudice.”

“I was really inspired by this romantic heroine, these windswept moors and this deep romanticism,” the designer explains. The lineup reflects the romance and mystery of classic fiction through vintage-inspired floral prints, rich jewel tones, Fair Isle sweaters and structured outerwear. However, it blends that literary attitude with Old Navy’s heritage of easy dressing, accessibility and versatile styles.

The limited-edition collection spans outerwear, dresses, tanks, blouses, jeans, trousers and accessories priced from $25 to $140. This is also the first designer collaboration that offers matching styles for girls and toddlers. Standout pieces include a parka with a detachable plaid liner; an embroidered, corduroy-collared jacket; high-waist balloon trousers and scarf dresses. As a cheeky reference to the literary theme, all of the clothing tags double as bookmarks.

“From the very beginning, [this collection] was a dialogue between what we do at Altuzarra — the romanticism, femininity and storytelling of the brand — [and] what Old Navy stands for, which is optimism and ease of American sportswear, and how those two things can come together,” Altuzarra says.

The CFDA’s Board of Directors tapped Karen Harvey Consulting Group to spearhead the search for its new CEO. During this transitional period, Hildy Kuryk will serve as interim CEO. Kuryk is the co-founder of Artemis Strategies, a boutique consultancy specializing in creative brand strategy. She is also a top-ranking Condé Nast alumna, as she previously served as executive director of communications at Vogue and Teen Vogue, working directly with Anna Wintour. She continues to oversee press and communications strategy on behalf of Condé Nast and Vogue for the Met Gala.

Prior to her experience in the fashion media landscape, Kuryk spent 15 years in professional politics, including serving under two U.S. presidents and as the Democratic National Committee’s national finance director. 

“As we begin the search for CFDA’s next CEO, the Board is focused on identifying a leader who can guide the organization into its next chapter,” CFDA Board Chairman Thom Browne said in a statement. “We are grateful to Hildy Kuryk for providing steady interim leadership and a strong connection between the Board and staff during this period.”

According to the CFDA, its CEO search will focus on “identifying a leader who can build on the CFDA’s mission to strengthen American fashion, support designers and advance the organization’s role across the industry.”

Derek Lam Returns to Derek Lam 10 Crosby as Creative Director

After exiting Derek Lam 10 Crosby three years ago, Founder Derek Lam is returning to the brand as its creative director. The move comes five months after NYC Alliance acquired the label. Lam will present the label’s first collection under NYC Alliance for Fall 2027. “I am looking forward to building on the design philosophy of Derek Lam 10 Crosby while bringing a fresh perspective to the brand’s next chapter,” Lam said in a press statement. {Fashionista inbox}

Why Edward Buchanan Started a Nonprofit to Help Black Creatives

Designer Edward Buchanan has opened The Situation, a self-funded nonprofit that supports underrepresented creatives, including people of color, queer and women artists. Based in Italy, The Situation will fund projects and host residency programs that let participants present exhibitions and showroom openings (for free). Beauty Platform Tresalis Acquires Vyrao

Tresalis, a new beauty platform backed by German investment firm Athos, has acquired British fragrance brand Vyrao. The deal’s financial terms have not been revealed. Vyrao’s founder, Yasmin Sewell, will remain at the brand in the newly created role of chief brand officer.
