After debuting in the Bryant Park Tents last season, Alice Ritter scored a spread in Vogue and a loyal following- especially in the winter, when city girls bury into her bright capes and billowed pillow dresses. For Fall '07, Alice used pleated silks and ruffled cotton, plus her notoriously short hemlines, to make a runway girl who looked like she was cutting class at Catholic school to go flirt with guys. "It's for a lady but she should be able to run down the street or dance in it, too!" Alice explained (albeit in her native French). While the audience was packed with Teen Vogue's fashion brigade and - oddly - a designer from Marc Jacobs in disguise, backstage teemed with models, mists of hair spray, and an artist army from NARS ready to paint the town (or at least the girls) with reddish pink lips - exactly the color you used when you climbed out the gym class window and sprinted to the parking lot with cigarettes and a hot date...
The NARS team in action (estimated time of prettiness: 6.5 minutes in the makeup chair!).
Alice Ritter takes a moment to breathe; Fashionista takes a moment to swoon.
Models eat bananas; Takamichi Hair goes bananas. Bienvenue a Fashion Week!
