Flypaper shows us this DIY Chanel bag from Craft magazine. It looks vaguely hideous to us, but also vaguely relevant: Karl Lagerfeld's most recent collection for the house was stuffed with penguin sweaters, ice skates, and scarves so huge and prickly, they brought to mind a woolly mammoth. Looking at the Double C crochet, we wonder two things: 1. As we learned from Bazaar publisher Valerie Salembier, counterfeit bags made in factories are morally wrong. But how about the ones you make yourself? 2. If we posted this photo by itself and said "Karl's Pre-Fall '08 bags have arrived," would you have believed it?
