Last year, my friend Jordan called me. "Nicholas Andreas Taralis," he said. "It's amazing. I can't get over it." I'd never heard of him before, but I rushed online to find his clothes, and also to find myself agreeing with Sarah Mower, who wrote how the designer made her think "all over again, of the huge void left by Helmut Lang." Though Taralis has yet to take off commercially, he's just accepted a very interesting offer to do his own capsule collection for UNIQLO. Right now, the collection will only release in Japan and Europe, though if it's successful - and if the industry here clamors loud enough for it - there's certainly potential for an American crossover. So please UNIQLO, bring us the Nicholas!
