About a year ago, girls in LA started raiding eBay for lace-printed bangles, cast in plastic or resin and floating around eBay for about $7 each. Most of the bracelets came from Denmark, where the fusion of high-tech plastic and low-tech fabric made the jewelry huge in the '70s and '80s. We were waiting for Kenneth Jay Lane or Alexis Bittar to start making their own lace/plastic jewelry - or Victoire de Castellane at Dior Joillarie - but instead, Forever 21's taken up the mantle for the masses. Their lace earrings come in yellow, red, and blue, sell for $3.80, look pretty cute with a peasant top, and - unlike some other offerings from the store - haven't been ripped, stitch for stitch, from any runways. Accordingly, we totally approve.
