Is it just us, or are we seeing a lot of "She's So Unusual"-era Cyndi Lauper references at the tents this season? You've got the big, frazzled hair with chunks of crazy colors (Marc by Marc), the tattered prom dresses (Betsey, Marc), the "I don't care if my lace dress is torn" (Heatherette), and the funny socks with weird shoes (Anna Sui). Put it all together, and you've got the "She Bop" Cyndi aesthetic down cold. That's why we see Spring '08 as a nod to the 1980s' insouciant take on high society femininity. Pile on the ruffles, frills, and tulle and than rip it all up and hit the streets. Time after time. --ALISON COOL

My first band t-shirt was a Sleater-Kinney tee that proclaimed "show me your riffs" in white block letters on a black background. Wearing it taught
