From a conversation last night: Yet another designer is breaking into a new category soon, but this time, it's significant - Roland Mouret is designing a line of menswear! As in, right now. No word on exactly when the line debuts, but it's definitely in the works, and we're guessing it's for next men's Fashion Week. This news comes just a month after Balenciaga showed men's looks on the runway for the first time in a while. But back to Mouret - does this mean the Beckhams can get matching designer outfits? Because they totally would.
Roland Mouret Named Creative Director at Robert Clergerie
French designer Roland Mouret-- he of the infamous Galaxy dress-- was just named creative director of footwear and accessories brand Robert Clergerie. The the 33-year-old shoe label has hired Mouret as part of its new development strategy--they want to bring a more contemporary feeling to the label. “I’m delighted to see Roland Mouret at the head...of the Maison that I created," said brand founder and designer Robert Clergie in a statement. Despite Mouret's lack of shoe design experience, his appointment does make some sort of sense, especially considering his avid fan base.
