This Sunday, January 10th, is New York's official No Pants subway ride. Thank god! If you've been storing your sequin Philip Lim hot pants in the back of your closet or your Vivienne Westwood bloomers in the bottom drawer of your bureau or waiting to re-wear your brilliant Lady Gaga Halloween costume, now's the chance to wear your teeniest tiniest pants (or lack of) in front of the whole world - or at least Manhattan's subway population. The ride is sponsored by Improv Everywhere and the website warns, "DO NOT SHOW UP UNLESS YOU PLAN TO TAKE YOUR PANTS OFF.**" The ride starts at 3pm and you can find your closest subway station here.
Taking Street Style to the Subway
Meet L train-hopper and photographer Clay Standley. On his site, Pretty Boys and Pretty Girls Ride the Subway, Standley infuses the transitory rush of the subway with fashion--dodging the typical stand-and-pose regimen by Lincoln Center that is done over and over again.
