Vogue UK's thrilled with Ashley Olsen's Golden Globes dress choice, a royal blue Erdem mini (which managed to escape the cameras all night), but we're more excited for the news tucked into the end - the Olsens will show The Row's AW10 collection at New York Fashion Week next month. The girls have held market appointments around the same time as Fashion Week in the past, but never a formal presentation with models, a set, invitations, etc. MAC seems like the obvious venue choice, but we wouldn't be surprised if the twins chose a stark Chelsea gallery in which to parade their classic clothes.

The Row Hires Prada's CEO, Plots Expansion
Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen have added a new and important person to their team at The Row. François Kress, currently President and CEO at Prada USA Corp, has been named President and Chief Operating Officer at the growing fashion brand, WWD reports. It's a pivotal development for The Row--the position is newly created--and places them among other designer labels who are poised to grow into bigger luxury brands. And Kress is likely a perfect choice to bring The Row to the next level.

Back to Basics: Why Brands Like The Elder Statesman and The Row Are Winning Big
This week, Greg Chait of The Elder Statesman took home the top prize at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards, earning a $300,000 investment, mentorship, and the official endorsement of Vogue. The fact that The Elder Statesman's cashmere sweaters and The Row's perfectly-constructed t-shirts have beat out the more fanciful and intricate designs of their contemporaries is a telling indication of what direction the luxury market may be headed in--namely, back to basics. After years of increasingly over-the-top runway looks and a lightening fast trend cycle, discerning consumers seem to be searching for items with more permanence--and they're willing to pay a premium price for it.
