Hakaan might've stolen the show yesterday, but a full roster of designers kicked off London Fashion Week.
Aminaka Wilmont was the first show we caught. Maki Aminaka and Marcus Wilmont, the husband and wife design team behind the label, were inpsired by Cormac McCarthy's The Road. Their signature printed fabric was wrapped and pulled around the body in a series of dresses and tops, until more wintry looks came out--layered sweaters, grey shearling and a few feathered headpieces.
The headpieces carried over to last night's Sass & Bide show, though Sarah-Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton topped their models off with gold plates in the shapes of kidneys. Their collection was called Tomorrow the Great and was supposed to be a "visual collision of nature and industry." They played with black and white prints, harnesses, chunky knits and shells--lots of shells.
But if we could have anything from the collection, it'd be the stripper shoes.
