CFDA winner Scott Sternberg was a filmmaker before he was a designer. You can tell by his fashion week presentations, which look like a mini-movie set season-upon-season.
This year, the LA-based designer's scene moved from the classroom--with desks and vintage typewriters galore--to the parking lot--where models reclined on a vintage Mercedes--to the deep woods, where a few appeared ready to hit the slopes.
Of course, it was all informed by a distinctly preppy aesthetic that includes boat shoes, corduroys, lots of plaid and this year, cleats (for the girls). While there wasn't a standout piece--I guess Sternberg is over his nearly-iconic suspender skirt--I'll still give it two Siskel & Ebert-style thumbs up.
