Diane von Furstenberg's longtime creative director, Nathan Jenden, is leaving the company to focus on his own label. Yvan Mispelaere, an alum of both Phoebe Philo's reign at Chloe and Frida Giannini's at Gucci, will replace him. DvF is a pretty well-oiled machine, so there won't be need for much innovation there. Her wrap-dress is a best-seller that makes 20-something career girls across the US feel fashionable. However, it could be exciting to see something a bit more directional in the collection. Mispelaere--who was responsible for this Chloe runway--might be able to bring that to the table.
Diane von Furstenberg's Creative Director Yvan Mispelaere is Stepping Down
Diane von Furstenberg and DVF creative director Yvan Mispelaere may have been all smiles on the runway when they took their bows at the Spring 2013 show--but clearly there was more going on underneath the surface than meets the eye (or the Google goggle). Just 48 hours after the DVF spring 2013 show, Yvan Mispelaere is "stepping down from his post effective immediately," WWD is reporting.
