During New York Fashion Week, Fashionista was gifted with a bag of samples from MAC's new Tabloid collection, which was used on several of the runway shows at MAC & Milk.
As always, we were excited to try some new products. I was especially eager to paint on the MAC Pro Longwear Lipcolour in a cherry red shade called Passion Preserved. (If you didn't already know, I'm big on lipstick for spring.)
My first reaction? True love. The color was matte with a rich, true red pigment.
The problem? It was extremely dry, and I didn't want to use the gloss that accompanies it. I was looking for an ideal matte, not a patent leather red.
After a couple of hours of wear, my lips were cracked and the color had dispersed from the center of my pout. I used some balm to relieve the discomfort, but the result was shiny, which was definitely not my end goal.
I've realized that, after a couple of tries, the only way to wear MAC Pro Longwear Lipcolour is if I reapply it to the center of my lips every two hours and attempt to ignore the discomfort that dry, cracked lips brings.
Has anyone else tried this product? If so, what do you think? And if not, what's a good, truly matte lipstick that won't dry out my mouth? Recommendations welcome.
