Kate Spade Fall 2012: A Little Slice of Paris
Kate Spade might be an all-American brand but for Fall 2012, designer Deborah Lloyd looked across the pond for inspiration. "The collection is very French inspired, as you can see," Lloyd told us. "You have this flirtatious gamine thats inspired us." In other words: The gamine, French New Wave theme first introduced by Jason Wu for Target is still going strong this season. And the clothes did an excellent job of embodying that certain je ne sais quoi so associated with the French: There were pretty day dresses styled to perfection with colorful cardigans, peter pan colors, and smart tomboy-ish trousers in gray, black and the season's color: orange. The polka dot was also big in the collection--both literally and figuratively, with oversized dots adorning overcoats to tiny black and white dots covering even the models nails. "The polka dot is carried over into everything-shoes, bags, tights, linings," stylist Brad Goreski told us.
