Looks like Target's knockoff of the PS1 wasn't as convincing as we thought. Lovely reader Stephanie just sent us this picture from one of the big box retailer's Long Island locations. As if it weren't cheap enough, the satchel has been marked down by 25% from $31.99 to $23.99.

Proenza Schouler Wishes Target Would Stop Ripping Off Their PS1
Proenza Schouler's PS1 became an instant "it bag." As such, it's been knocked off countless times. We've devoted several "Adventures in Copyright" to PS1 knockoffs, including ones by Gap, Zara and some label called Navoh. Cathy Horyn noticed that the fashion blogosphere was buzzing about Target label Mossimo's take on the PS1 (which is pretty good). The knockoff was brought to the attention of designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, when McCoullugh's sister emailed her brother a photo of the bag from her local Target.
Adventures in Copyright: Navoh Bags Proenza's PS1 and Mulberry's Alexa in One Fell Swoop
We love affordable, chic handbags, and that's what label Navoh says it's all about: Faux leather handbags priced at $125 and under. But we're not okay with blatant knockoffs. We just don't get why Navoh would bother out-n-out copying Proenza Schouler's famed PS1. It's literally the same exact bag in a cheaper material, from the colorways to the hardware.
Adventures in Copyright: Zara's Take on the PS1
A Dominican Republic-based reader sent in this pic from Zara of what he calls "a veeeery poor and cheap immitation of Proenza Schouler's PS1." Indeed, the "leather" looks plastic-y and the black part appears to be canvas. We love the PS1, because it's an "It bag," we guess, but it's so simple and understated that it lacks the annoying fad aspect of most It bags that came before it. Still, lots of celebrities carry it around, so we're not surprised someone like Zara would decide to create something similar. Not a very impressive knock-off of the Olsen favorite. However, at least the buckles and colorways are slightly different from the original, unlike Navoh's knock-off, which was more of a straight-up copy and just as cheap-looking.
Image of the Day: Karl Lagerfeld Doodles All Over Lady Gaga's Chanel Shopping Bag
Karl Lagerfeld loves Lady Gaga so much that he personalized her Chanel shopping bag with an illustration. Lady Gaga's thank you tweet to Karl? "Dear Karl Lagerfeld, your kindness and generosity are beyond magical. I will cherish this forever." Via The Fashion Spot.
