Michelle Obama may know how to do classic American elegance better than most, which she proved in last night's Tom Ford gown, but one can't forget the lady who paved the way.
A reader on the vigilant on the Mrs. O blog noticed that Jacqueline O (then Kennedy) wore a very similar look to Buckingham Palace in 1961. Both First Ladies wore white dresses and long white gloves to visit Buckingham Palace (it is traditional attire for the Palace, after all.)
