While bloggers now regularly receive compensation for promotional work--think Rumi Neely's work with Forever 21 and Ralph Lauren--it's typically "viral" campaigns. But that's all changing, what with Susie Lau's appearance in a Gap campaign last Christmas, and now, the announcement that fashion editor/blogger Sasha Wilkins of Liberty London Girl is the new face of Hunter, the company famous for its wellington boots.
The first UK blogger to gain representation from a legit talent agency--Curtis Brown--Wilkins is also unique in that she is still incredibly involved in mainstream media. She's worked everywhere from WSJ. to Conde Nast Traveller (UK) and freelances for some of the most important fashion books out there.
Wilkins is one out of three faces gracing the Fall 2011 Hunter campaign, which was shot in London today. She's also currently working on styling collaborations with Club Monaco and Dolce & Gabbana, and will return to New York in July for an undisclosed project.
Wilkins' success proves that with good writing, a distinct point of view, and an unwillingness to compromise when it comes to quality, a blogger will get her due.
