While most of our attention was admittedly on last night's resplendent CFDA Awards, we can't forget about the fashion talent across the pond--some of which has just been selected by the British Fashion Council for NEWGEN, an important showcase for emerging British Designers that is underwritten by Topshop. The winning designers, who are chosen each year in the categories of menswear and womenswear, receive sponsorship for their next runway show at London Fashion Week. And the winners are...
For womenswear: David Koma, Holly Fulton, Louise Gray, Michael van der Ham, Christopher Raeburn, Craig Lawrence, Dominic Jones, J.W. Anderson, Nasir Mazhar, Jordan Askill, SISTER by SIBLING, Felicity Brown, J. JS Lee, James Long, Palmer//Harding, Thomas Tait and Tim Soar Woman.
For menswear: Christopher Shannon, James Long, J.W. Anderson, Lou Dalton, New Power Studio, Dr Noki, Katie Eary and SIBLING.
While NEWGEN is certainly not on the same level as the CFDAs, it is definitely a strong indication of the skill and promise of those chosen. Many of the winners were favorites at this year's A/W '11 London Fashion Week and we are pleased to see their talent recognized.
