Model Kate King is only 17, but she's already taking over the runways. During the fall 2011 season (her first) she was a must-have for every big designer, including Prada, Louis Vuitton, Lanvin, and Marc Jacobs. She's already landed editorial gigs with Russh, Wonderland, and Dossier, was named among the top new models on every site, from COACD to Models.com, but her success hasn't gone to her head.

Fashionista: How did you get into modeling? Kate King: My aunt introduced me to someone who worked within the industry, and while I was on vacation in New York I had appointments set up with various agencies. When I met my agent Doll at Elite, I knew that that's where I wanted to be.
What was it like going from Toronto teenager to the talk of the fashion world? It was a definite whirlwind, everything happened so fast. You never know what to expect from this industry as it is so often changing and evolving but getting to be a part of it feels really special.
You had an amazingly successful AW11 season! What were some of your favorite moments? My first show, Rag & Bone, was an amazing moment, and my first time opening during the Moschino show was really memorable.
Speaking of AW11, you walked Louis Vuitton with your hands cuffed behind your back. That must've been a bit scary...? It actually wasn't as hard as it looked. when they first put the cuffs on me during the fitting I was a bit worried, but it was comfortable oddly enough.
Do you ever get stage fright before a major runway show or photo shoot? Yeah, I definitely do but I figure its better to be nervous than indifferent, at least that means I care about what I am doing.
How do you cope with all the traveling required to be a model? It's really not something I have to cope with, I really love traveling and getting to see the world. The only thing I would say is that living out of a suitcase can be difficult.
What's your favorite city to visit? I love going to London, I have a lot of family there so it's good to see them when I go.
When you're not busy with modeling, what do you like to do for fun? My absolute favorite thing to do is go to the beach.
What's your all-time favorite movie? The Great Gatsby.
What are your favorite magazines? I really dont have one, I just buy whichever magazine looks most interesting at that moment.
What's the best snack for a model on the go? Dried fruit is so good!
If you weren't a model, what would you like to be doing? I would have just graduated high school, and be getting ready for university.
And finally (and most importantly!) if you were an animal, what animal would you be? Oh people always tell me I look like a deer.
