We are loving Jil Sander's graphic, cinematic new ad campaign. We just received images for both ready-to wear and eyewear, which star Daria Strokus, who also starred in the label's Spring campaign, and newcomer Guerrino Santulliana, who just walked in the Spring/Summer 2012 show in Milan. Art directed by Raf Simons and shot by Willy Vanderperre, the campaign is colorful, but still very Fall-like. It's simple, as is typical of Jil Sander, but still makes an impact. MILAN--Raf Simon's cited 1950s couture, Diane Arbus' tunic dresses, furniture designer Jacques Adnet, and Louise Dahl-Wolfe--one of my favorite fashion photographers--as inspiration for his Fall 2011 Jil Sander collection.
Those references are easy to spot, but my visceral reaction to the runway was a bit less high brow.
