We love to follow our “How I’m Making It” subjects through their career trajectories, and it’s particularly gratifying when they’re doing well and thriving. One such success story is Meredith Fisher and her Charles Henry line. When we first wrote about her in January, she’d just launched Charles Henry (after a successful run with her first line, WAYF). We caught up with her this week to see what’s new.
Her spring collection sold robustly, and Shopbop just picked up some of her holiday pieces for an exclusive offering. And she recently completed a project--a skirt collaboration--with Anthropologie. Pretty amazing for what is still a very young line (and designer!)
When asked what challenges are facing her at this stage of her career, she cites the same woes that are facing many in the industry now. She told us, “I just started outsourcing production overseas, which was challenging, especially due to the time difference and the fact that I'm a perfectionist. I don’t think I slept for a month straight! Although it is challenging it's great that we are able to produce amazing quality garments for all the new stores that are picking up the line.”
Take a peek at her gorgeous Holiday 2011 look book. It’s full of chiffon, leather, embossed metallic “snake skin,” and perfect red pieces.
