What could have been the love child of an epic mating between new and old school, may not be anymore. WWD reports today that Sassy's Jane Pratt--now the EIC of XOJane.com--may no longer be involved with Tavi Gevinson's upcoming website, after all.
Earlier this year, Tavi and Jane announced they would be collaborating on a site for teens called "Rookie." XOJane launched but there was no sign of Tavi's project. Up until this July, the blogger was still talking about it. At an event in Brooklyn, the high school sophomore dished details about the partnership, announcing the official title and what to expect in terms of design and tone. She also did a guest post on the site about the disgusting contents of her locker.
According to WWD, Tavi has recently decided against launching with Say Media, the company which hosts XOJane, in order to have full control of her site. The blogger says she hired her own people to help with advertising and web design, but does not want a corporate company involved.
Tavi insists that there is no bad blood between her and Pratt, and adds that she would still "love for her to be involved, but right now it’s something that has to be worked out between her and Say,” she told WWD.
Rookie is slated to launch this September as an online mag and will eventually branch out to include a bi-yearly print publication.
Though we're kind of bummed that Pratt seems to be out of the picture, we think Tavi is proving herself to be a pretty savvy businesswoman.
