Did you know Coco Rocha used to be a serious Irish dancer? Yep, the illustrious model was jigging all over the place as a child and Irish dancing actually played a major part in propelling her modeling career. She was discovered at an Irish dance competition and became known as the Irish dancing model after Jean-Paul Gaultier asked her to jig down his runway in 2007.
Apparently, Irish dance still holds a place in Coco's heart. A new documentary about the very intense-seeming Irish dance world is out and the model is hosting an online screening tonight. The concept of an online screening does sounds strange, as does the fact that, according to a release, viewers can chat with Coco in real-time both during and after the film via webcam. But nevertheless, it's happening, and we like that anyone can participate.
The screening will be held on "global movie theater" ConstellationTV at 6pm ET/3pm PT as part of an exclusive one-week engagement for North American viewers, and costs $9.99. Seems like a lot to watch something on your computer screen, but maybe it's worth it for a chance to chat with Coco?
Plus, the film, which focuses on last year's Irish Dancing World Championships in Glasgow, actually looks really good. I love a good dance movie and the dancers in Jig put Ashlee Simpson to shame. See below to hear Coco talk about her love of Irish dancing and watch the trailer.
